The Howe, Bastinac, Aish trade circle would be an absolute coup for us, but it doesn't quite add up, because all three players are rated very differently.

Aish = potential gun

Howe = natural footballer but not a core essential player for any starting 22

Bastinac = not in best 22 of any team except maybe strugglers like Brisbane or Carlton

North and MFC probably would need to sweeten the deal in some way, but unsure best way to get it done.

I'm taking Lethal on his word. Aish won't be traded. They need to set the tone for all future players drafted by the Lions.

Dee's still right into Bastinac

Anyone know anything about his teammate Brad McKenzie apart from the following:

Fellow Roo midfielder Brad McKenzie has also attracted some interest from rival clubs.

Unlike Bastinac, the 22-year-old South Australian is uncontracted and after playing just one senior game this season in round 23 when nine senior Roos were rested.

I'm guessing Bastinac is the player we move onto if the Kennedy trade goes nowhere...

Give Bastinac a BIG miss. In the last 3 years he HAS FAILED to gather 20+ disposals in any match North has lost. He is not who you want if you need someone when the chips are down. He hasn't lost his place because of Higgins as Bastinac plays mid and Higgins doesn't.

Brad Scott made excuse after excuse for Bastinacs poor performances in 2014 and this year dropped him because there were no more excuses. With Greenwoods departure from North it was hoped Bastinac would step up, he didn't, he was dropped and Jacobs grabbed his chance and North immediately improved in the last half. Serious passenger. Also one or two 30+ (and yes 40+ against GWS) in FIVE years doesn't make you elite!

My wife follows North and is fed up with his output and glad Scott finally lost patience this year and now trying to trade while he has some currency.

So basically he's the Jack Watts of Norf.

My brother is a passionate North supporter and calls Bastinac the dumbest footballer in the AFL. From what little I've seen of him, it's hard to disagree. The guy has no clue.

When I told him Melbourne were interested he said he'd happily trade for a bag of salt and vinegar chips.

Essendon supporters say the same about Melksham. My old man is an Dons supporter and he laughed his head off when I told him we were into Melksham. To his credit, he did elaborate as to why he didn't rate Melksham - too many turnovers, and a poor decision maker.

So basically we're recruiting a hoard of run-with poor decision makers from other clubs...

It always a packet of chips...

I don't think we're as heavily into him as others. Club has commented publicly on all of Melksham, Bugg and Kennedy. Not so Bastinac. He may be more of an after thought.

If we can manage to trade our way into pick 3, that would go a long way to rectifying that. Aaron Francis is a fine decision maker, it would be a dream to land Francis.

At least they'll fit in with our current crop

Or a half eaten Mars Bar (never an unopened one which is odd)..

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
