Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2015 Player Review - # 10 Angus Brayshaw

Everytime I see him kick inside our forward fifty it's to our advantage in a great spot.

Correct me if I'm wrong but did he lead our goal assists for the year?

Gus is one of my favourites. Love him. Now just needs to get more of the ball. If he averaged mid 20s, he'd be one of the most damaging players in the league. He just makes things happen. His decision making and disposal are top notch for a first year player.

Ten Angus Brayshaw possessions are worth more than a 20+ possession game from most other players

Agreed. Imagine him in the guts full time. And imagine Prestia dishing off to him out of the middle. Salivating at the thought of it.

So impressive.

I could give in to some MFCSS if I wanted to but this kid is already good and will be a star.

you know i reckon GUS is the living breathing antidote of MFCSS-itis !!

Household favourite here. My 5 year old son is also an Angus and naturally has adopted Brayshaw as his fave.

We got to meet him briefly at training before the R2 game at Manuka, conversation went along these lines:

5YO: Your name is Angus.

Gus Brayshaw: Yep.

5YO: Guess what? My name is Angus.

Gus Brayshaw: Good name, isn't it?

5YO: Yep!

*conversation over*

Name aside...he's a beauty.

It is really amazing how many 'score involvements' and goal assists and other impact stats the guy has accumulated, considering he hasn't actually had the ball in his hands a huge amount yet. Brayshaw is one seriously effective player with terrific insight into what is about to happen.

Throw that together with a great defensive ethic and we are really talking top quality player.

How about we don't go anointing future captains. We all know how well that has gone for us in the past.

The difference is this time we will let Viney/Brayshaw accumulate many years of good performances and the respect of their peers as leaders of the group, instead of just gifting it straight away on the promise only

A couple of highlights were against Collingwood on QB when Gus came bursting through the centre of the ground and kicked long to Garlett running back towards goal...

Exactly the type of player that we need at the club.

A contact who was recently talking to Gus Brayshaw's mum says he is quite an old fashioned boy when it comes to club commitment and loyalty. Even at the tender age of 19, he is apparently absolutely committed to the idea of being a Melbourne player for his whole career. He also has uncompromising attitudes toward his own standards. Another one for whom Nathan Jones and Dan Cross are their professional role models.

Perhaps the club should have Gus mentor the likes of Howe going forward.

To me Brayshaw is Captain material.

The lack of preseason told on the back half of his year..

Viney will v Brayshaws VC.

Petracca will be the X Factor but I think doesn't have the "C" capability.

And of course we have seen so much of him on field as to be able to make either of those calls right now??

I wouldn't say he is a great kick, in that he won't thread a needle from 40m, but he is a smart kick who always puts the ball to advantage. Many examples of him kicking long to space to Garlett, or to the advantage of a big guy.

He slowed down after the knock he got up in the NT, but before that was absolutely killing it.

Great pick up; smart, brave, mostly clean, and an absolute competitor. Top notch pick up and future leader. What he did for Crossy's son will live with me forever.233658-96b4fbc0-5462-11e5-a3d5-9b39810bf

One thing that excites me most when I think about the next few years is his change in body-shape.

At 187 cm and already powerfully built legs, ( the main contributor to his body weight), I can't wait to see the damage he'll do inside the contest when his upper frame and arms are stronger.

He already attacks the contest like a bull and is great at extracting and releasing a handball whilst being tackled. His long-ish arms help in this regard as well as his tackling ability.

But he could well be a monster in a few pre-seasons which is scary to think about.

Can't wait.

Yep, Brayshaw led MFC in goal assists with 17. Next was Hogan 12, Watts 11, Garlett 10.

Finished third at MFC in total tackles with 99, behind only Viney 105 and Bernie with 101. Jonesy had 95.

Also third in Inside 50s with 62 behind only Jones and Bernie.

Interesting stat, Gus had 24 frees for, but only 8 frees against.

Anyway, this was one of the highlights for me, as a couple have already mentioned:

This snap for goal on the run vs North has also been mentioned already. Another great moment:

what i took out of those videos..

Jeffy Garlett has atleast another 5-6 years left of good footy ahead of him.

And Michies kick was absolutely sublime.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
