Wasn't totally listening, but did they say he wanted to go back to WA?

Yep for family reasons.

Was a hardcore docker supporter even to this day. Mentioned it on a radio interview earlier on the year.

GWS were always going to bleed players. That franchise will never work. Even when they start winning regularly they will be lucky to get 15k to home games

I really hope he eats into Freos cap in the long term. I hope he gets 4 years back loaded, making the hogan move near impossible.

I don't see why everyone is so worried.

There is two outcomes for Hogan wanting to go home:

1) We build a strong team and play finals and hopefully challenge for the premiership over a number of years. Hogan stays.

2) The club falls back in a hole like before. Hogan goes.

I'm fairly confident in the way the club is run now so I'm confident he will stay, at least in the short to medium term.

Doesn't say much about the draft system... It appears that bottom clubs are getting early picks & developing them only for top clubs to swoop on them.. understand players may wanna go home etc. & club will be compensated...

Cant find the tweet but a few GWS players out with Cam posted a photo calling Damo out as talking garbage again. He hasn't got one right for a while.

That's interesting, as Damo claimed he spoke to Cam's manager who confirmed he had asked to be traded back to WA.

Not saying what you've posted above is wrong, just interesting!

AS much as people cant stand damo he is very rarely wrong. He was right about brisbane players clashing with each other when brisbane tried to deny it. GWS have put out a tweet saying its wrong but damo put this tweet out this morning. Damian Barrett@barrettdamian 11h

Just so everyone is clear. When asked today, McCarthy's manager said: "He (McCarthy) has requested to be traded back to WA." On the record

Maybe Cam just hadnt bothered to inform GWS he wanted to go and his manager got the news out earlier.

My conspiracy theory is Freo have hit list of young forwards from WA.

Hogan would be on top but he seems pretty happy staying with us as we are paying him quite well and have developing list around him.

So they go to McCarthy as he is in the shadow of JC and offer him a bit of money to be there star forward.

It's a $700,000 offer according to Jon Ralph, and GWS have formally announced they have rejected manager Colin Young's approaches for a trade to take place.

There's your Hogan money it seems.

For now.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
