Never thought I'd see Jake Melksham and 4 years in the same sentence. Then I saw Melbourne though and it all made sense.

He was in good form a couple of years ago but this year he tuned out like Carlisle and that's not a good trait to have if you're moving to the Dees.

On a serious note though, put him up in the Demonland banner. Here's to what could be a painful 4 years of traffic in a thread under his name.

Jake Melksham, already demonland's favourite Melbourne whipping boy!

He's already EFCs favourite...

I pray we don't take this goose.

Over reaction by many here.

1 If any trade is offered I would be surprised if the club did not have a WADA clause (Not Santa) ie. EFC to pay all his wages during any period of penalty to be included in their cap.

2 MFC would not offer much maybe 3rd rounder or into PSD

3 No deals are done yet, so chill.

Posted

Jeez, you got there pretty quick, sloonie...

A year out from being solely in charge and the club is broken as evidenced by his signing as coach.

And all because of Jakey Melksham...

We are both right until proven wrong, is Goodwin great, or a dud? It's a Schrödinger's cat scenario for me right now; is he dead in a box, or alive? The Milkman and the Toumpas rumours is the start of the rot, the connections with the shady drug cartel does not help either. Here's hoping.

Olisik is having a real crack at the title lately.

It ain't hard on Demonland who love slagging off fellow supporters.

Greg Denham just reported on SEN that the Bombers have asked for Melbourne's first pick & Howe for Melksham.

Oh dear.

You can only hope that with such a ridiculous request, the Dees and Dons don't get a deal done and he comes to Melbourne for nothing in the PSD.

In other news, Essendon are trying to sell Courtney Dempsey to Melbourne for Angus Brayshaw as well as a late MFC draft pick as a sweetener.

When we can get him via the PSD, why would we offer more than a third rounder? That's still a decent pick at about 42. Pick 24 is far, far too high for Melksham.

In other news, our counter-offer to their trade request should be Howe for Melksham and THEIR first rounder.

Looks like they took my suggestion seriously....

He is the Essendon supporter whipping boy and for good reason. A turn over merchant in the Jack Grimes mould. Need I say more?

Why do we all think he's a turnover merchant? 5th for effective disposals at 81.5%. Way ahead of of a lot of others including Watts who we're all convinced uses the ball well.

As I said about 10 pages back, this won't happen because bombers are ridiculous. They accepted the Ryder trade because Patty was ready to sue them as he still believes his sick child is the result of those injections!!! Fact! Imagine that story coming out in all its glory!! Lol

Melksham is worth no more than a 3rd round at best, otherwise PSD, as others here have said, no one else looks like remotely touching him for 4 years & $1.6m so he should make it to us easily!!

Posted

It's seriously embarrassing. Melksham is the sort of player you recruit on the last day of trade week when you've been jilted at the altar by others. He's not a coup half way through September.

And you don't give them $400k/year over 4 years.

Posted

$320k a year over 3 years , and get him in the pre season draft,or third round pick, otherwise forget it.

Posted

In a supposedly weak draft a 3rd rounder wouldn't be giving up too much.

In saying that who knows what value we'd get out of it with wada hanging over him and ability.

I'll trust the clubs judgement on this one... but its very very risky imo

Wait, so Jimmy Toumpas getting another contract is rotten?

Lil Jimmy Toumpas?

You might end up being right that Goodwin, Melksham, and Toumpas are bad decisions, but they are just that.

Not a shot at you personally, but how could anyone trust the clubs judgement, with regards to a specific WADA outcome?

WADA are not appealing for fun, or to fight a losing cause just to show the world that they will chase the accused all the way. They are appealing, bacause they feel that the essedun players are GUILTY of using illegal, performance enhancing drugs, which may end in a 2 year ban for all players involved.

Melbournes heirachy cannot have any inside info, as this is not an episode orchestrated by the AFL, or its lackeys.

If they are found not guilty, and we trade our third round pick for Milkman, then all is good, and I would be reasonably happy with that.

BUT

Trade anything higher, and have Melksham put out of the game for ANY length of time due to a guilty finding, and I would be up the front, leading the chorus of voices demanding that whoever orchestrated the trade, be run out of our club forever, and that includes the coach in waiting.

Simply cannot believe that we are looking at anyone from essedun. And if the scummers actually did ask for first round pick and Howe, then I would settle for nothing less than pushing him through to the PSD, and giving a nice, oversized, lengthy middle finger to the filthy scum.

Ah, damned lies and statistics

Was thinking about this alleged trade and how unrealistic it is, and it got me thinking.

Could Denham have missed a vital detail and that the trade could be Howe & Pick 6 to Essendon for Melksham & Pick 4 to try and sure up our chances of getting Curnow in the draft?

Curnow will likely become the ideal 3rd tall forward who pushes into the midfield given his height and build. A role Howe hasn't been able to master?

So in this scenario it could be that Melksham is nothing more then steak knives. Thoughts?

Dons are so desperately in need of high draft picks after being banned from the early rounds they'll be looking to keep pick 4 and add top 10 picks. i.e. our pick 6, etc...

Agree they'll want to hold onto early picks and will look to get another top 10 pick with Carlisle. But surely not even they would be delusional enough to think Melksham on his own is worth Howe & Pick 6.

I'm just trying to find a way that request makes sense.

After WADA is finished that club will be disbanded anyway and every other club will get a couple of players each.

We're taking Melksham and Daniher because the rellies want us to, you know, get away and start up a new dynasty.

That little piece of info should get all the soaks up and about...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
