Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

His unwavering positivity on such fairy tales was pretty amazing.

I commend him for it really.

I'd love to live in fairy land.

Not sure about fairy land. More like an angry unkept garden gnome. Maybe a Brothers Grimm 'Fairy' tale ..Rumplestiltskin ?

Doesn't fit the description of the person I have met on a few occasions when I've been down from Sydney. I found him to be a very affable, pleasant person.

Thank goodness Hardtack, for your note of civility amidst the howl of put downs.

It is astonishing to see posters piling on to sink the boot in. Doesn't it strike you guys as classic bullying behaviour.

As for his optimistic comments about McKenzie and Grimes, he reported what he believed he was seeing. I was also hopeful that 18 months of Roo's and his team may have produced an improvement in many of our players. Turns out it was mostly wishful thinking. But why lash Saty for expressing his thoughts. Some of the players told us the same things. Jamar told us it was the best he had felt after his first full pre-season in many years, - didn't really seem to make a difference.

For many of us, Saty's training reports brightened up a long off season, I hope he returns. I have however given up hope that those who don't like him will simply ignore him, rather than pursue what seems like a relentless vendetta against him.

Agreed, one should never judge a book by its cover ^_^

Nice rant xarronn. Unless I've missed some deleted posts, your claim of "posters piling on to sink the boot in, howl of put downs, classic bullying behaviour" is hyperbole and not reflective of this thread. Actually, you're sinking the boots in, etc.

Anyway, thanks for the report GeorgiouRR. Great to hear of Goodwin taking the lead role. No mention of Hogan, how was he travelling during the session? Cheers.

does anyone else just laugh/cry when they read things along the lines of them 'fixing problems' at training

you've been training and playing for your whole life

you were a talented junior and a highly paid professional now

as your coaches we are now going to introduce you to concepts such as shepherding, not handballing to a stationary teammate under pressure and putting your body on the line in contests

now that they have been clued in on these basics we should see a much better side I suppose

if only we had told them about this stuff earlier

In all seriousness, there are even more basic things that this group of coaches have had to worry about like fitness, strength, courage and the even more basic skills of kicking, handpassing and marking. We've had to come from a long way back.

I think shepherding is the most underrated skill.

A good block means the player already with the ball can assess his options, take steadying steps and deliver the ball well.

Instead we give a stupid one meter handball, (usually stuff that up) to a player in just as much pressure.

Or worse we hand ball to the player providing the shepherd!! Aghrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Surely the bagging of Grimes can ease off after the past couple of weeks - clear improvement there.

Not if he is your whipping boy pitmaster.

I am not a big fan but he has been far from our worst this year.

His disposal is his weak point but there are plenty of others who as bad if not worse.

He has one big thing going for him that a large number of others could emulate.

He gets the bloody ball.

How about you go back and look at posts 8, 9, 16 , 17, 27, 32, 35.

Grimes has been all class the way he has firstly accepted his time in the seconds and then fought back to a point where he will probably retain his place.

I can't understand the criticism of his recent form - especially last week where he was easily amongst our best. His disposal efficiency is actually quite respectable but the odd clanger sticks in the mind and devalues his overall game.

Would love to see Jack and Trenners become regulars again, they still have a lot to offer.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
