Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Viv has played just 9 games for the season , with some of those as the sub with hardly any game time

Yet he ranks 7th at the club for total goal assists, and 2nd for goal assists per game!!

He is underrated

You're placing way too much relevance on one ordinary stat.

He's just a player. And one not worth arguing about, so I'll leave you to it.

He should have had 3 GA on Sunday but the receivers all missed. Gawn's miss from about 20 out was disgraceful. The stat should be score assists.

The setting up of goals and finding team mates in scoring positions is far from an ordinary stat

Magic Johnson wouldn't be happy with you ProDee

If the usual suspects get delisted/traded, and we don't get a plethora of quality mids banging our door down wanting to sign-up, Michie gets another year. At this stage he's depth, but with some development, hopefully he could be part of our inside midfield rotation.

You've been his biggest fan and have come up with some good stats. I've not been a fan but decided to watch him closely yesterday. His first half was good but he fell away alarmingly in the second and just couldn't keep up with the pace of the game. 15 disposals to half time and 21 for the match. He's often been sub and I seem to recall you saying his game time is low but showing his possessions per minute high. When he's played full games what game time percentage has he played and how does that compare with other mids?

I wonder if his major problem is lack of a tank. Have you got any details on his third and forth quarter performances? The club of course will know this but with interchanges mooted to come down this could be a serious issue.

I'm still of the view that if he is in our best 22 then we are not where we want to be. But he was good in the first half yesterday before being unsighted in the second.

I get the stats from the MFC website. They are totals for the season not game specific. Don't have any quarter by quarter data. Did not see the game yesterday but according to the game stats he had 80% game time yesterday. Its a good point you make and I will see what I can find. I have all our games on iq so if I get the time may do it manually. I think his tank is okay. Speaking to him he says that he has increased his distance from 11 ks a game to almost 15 so that may have something to do with it. Sometimes I think they do 2 ks just rotating thru the bench.

Michie will never be more than fringe player because he doesn't do anything especially well. And his defensive work is nowhere near good enough.

That said, he was okay with ball in hand yesterday, and probably played himself on to the list for next year.

Coming into his sixth year on an AFL list Viv would want to do something special in the pre season to ensure that he is in the round 1 starting side.

I think he tries but isnt up to the rigours of AFL.

Spare parts player at best.

Move him on in my book.

Without being over the top positive about Viv, he did look OK on the weekend in a shocking team performance.

He was able to win the ball more consistently and get into space when most of the team was unable to do so.

His goal assists over the past few weeks have been his strength. A couple of times he has stuck out because he has broken out of a pack, run forward and kicked quickly into space (e.g. kick into Brayshaw in a previous game). This goes against Roos' handball back out of the pack to a man with forward vision but has worked because the ball has penetrated the forward line a lot quicker giving less time to the opposition to fill the space.

I agree his tank isn't great and along with Newton his defensive game still needs work (needs to run back a lot harder). But he has a solid body and decent push off a few steps. No standout qualities I agree but was told by a Freo staff member when we got him that he has a lot of grunt/aggression in and around the contest and just needed to keep his focus. Would like to see more of that in his tackling and attack on the football.

When you give a player a string of games he can work his way into a side. I hope he plays next weeks and continues to work on his game.

I think the side needs to work into him mongrel.

I am not a big fan but if the majority of yesterdays lot played as poorly as him we would have won.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
