Jetta has requested to go back to WA. I don't think I've heard anywhere that Bennell wants to go back to WA

At first glance I thought you meant our Jetta

I really want Bennell. Worth the risk in my opinion.

We beat Gold Coast in a game a couple of years ago at a the G. I can't remember exactly but Ablett got something like 35 and Bennell got 38? I predicted at the time that he would soon be a Brownlow medalist. Well things haven't quite panned out that way but he still has the potential.

He is a Ferrari in the same way as Judd is. He's possibly going to be very high maintenance but it's worth the risk to get our hands on this quality of talent. Every player carries risk. Dangerfield or Fyfe could have career-ending injuries but it wouldn't put you off getting them if you could.

I don't believe you.

It is true. my orangutan's trainer knows MC's dog's cousin. It is a reliable source sauce!!!

However, I hear MC's dog has a crack problem, can not keep his nose out of it... See what I did there, dogs & butt cracks... I'll move on now.

Apparently his family don't want him back in WA (big footy as a secondary source, family member facebook primary source).

There are too many bad influences for Bennell in WA. He was up to no good before he got drafted. I think his only hope is to try his hand in Vic.

Roosy would actually be ideal for Bennell. I think he might end up a Demon to be honest.

My dog knows some board members

When you say "knows" you mean in the biblical sense right?

Maybe the issue isn't that we don't want him but that he doesn't want us. If that's the case there's no point being desperate.

I'd love to have him, but I don't Hogan, Brayshaw, Petracca etc going off the rails either.

If the consensus is that we aren't ready to bring in a bad apple in then I can understand that.

Much as I really would like him at the Dees he's not someone to "chase". He's someone that if we're interested we meet with him and see where his heads at, make an offer, and leave it at that. If he doesn't want to meet with us then that's up to him and I wouldn't want him at the club. But if he's open to us then we have a strategy and we stick to it.

Still makes me angry we seem to not be in the hunt.

Tigers think they're in a premiership window and are prepared to roll the dice and risk it with Harley. We're in the middle of a major culture shift and to bring in Bennell now would most definitely risk denting all of the hard work the club has done over the Roos/Jackson period. I'd be willing to think the club sees it as simply not worth it.

Ken Judge passed some comments on Bennell last Saturday on the radio which went something like:

Ablett Snr showed how much of a potential star in the making he was at Hawthorn but didn't toe the line and for fear of it infecting the rest of the list, Yabby Jeans moved him on and he ended up at Geelong where he turned out to be one of the all time greats and played in two GF's - the Hawks went on to win 4 premierships. I can't recall who Judge mentioned but they basically said there was two sets of rules at Geelong which was one for Ablett and the other for the rest of the squad.

His comments about Bennell directly were referencing a couple of other incidents that occurred between the infamous Tassie photo and when he had the incident with the bouncer. He said they were kept under wraps and out of the media but were pretty disturbing. I think PSD probably alluded these incidents early on in this thread.

Richmond might back themselves in to control Bennell given they've managed to get Dusty's [censored] together for him and maybe the MFC might think it could do the same however, we have one problem child at the club that takes up enormous resources at the expense of the rest of the players (Jurrah) is not fair and doesn't bode well for a strong culture being built off the foundation of a team first mentality.

The Suns want him gone. I think that speaks volumes on its own.

I reckon we'll look back on this one and not be too disappointed at all.

Why take the risk we have to be a clean cut club what's a couple more years without winning [censored] off as well exactly what we need I would trade pick 6 for him take a chance

Was told today we lost interest a while back. The meeting posted early was 100% bs.

Roos openly said that, but nobody on here chose to believe him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
