Just watched the reply. Harmless stuff really. Just like any bunch of biased supporters following their team. "Straughney" (spelling?) is possibly the most unfunny comedian ever.

is he supposed to be a comedian? he sure had me fooled.

Imagine if we got MCC members to do the commentary. They wouldn't know any of the players names. "Number 10 kicks it to Number 1etc"

I like Ed, he is an unashamed Collingwood tragic. At least you know what you get when you press "Red for Ed". It's when you watch a normal replay and the commentators are as bad as Ed when they are meant to be neutral that upsets me. I will watch the replay this week and enjoy it. If they get too much, I will mute the sound.

I thought it was hilarious years ago when that w@#$%r Tim Lane said he wouldn't commentate with Ed because Ed was one-sided. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?? Tim Lane, the most overt one-eyed Carlton supporter who almost ejaculated on TV when Judd played a good game for Carlton in his first year there. There are very few commentators who don't let their bias come through. McAvaney loves the Adelaide teams, Commetti the WA teams, Matt Campbell the Lions etc, they are all biased in some way. Whateley and Hudson are painful when they talk about Geelong. The only one who appears to be totally unbiased is Sandy Roberts, but others may disagree.

He's a 'character' played by the equally unfunny Peter Helliar.

Larf? My head nearly fell orf.

Actually one thing that did annoy me was when fat ed said that ANB was a very "Melbourne" name.

Yeah sorry ed he should have been called "bazza or Wazza" u wa nker.

I hate Peter Helliar. A self-important do-gooder [censored]. He makes The Project that little bit more unbearable. Uneducated morons lecturing the rest of us on morality.

I get that humour is subjective. But he is not funny and his character is dumb and over-used.

I like Ed and listen to his breakfast show. Its just a bit of fun. KB did the same a few years ago covering a richmond game. He would be a frustrated president at the moment. Its rare that the pies lose 6 in a row. I did laugh at the end when as soon as the siren went, headphones down and off they went.

Can anyone tell me is there an option in the delayed replay to get "normal" commentary?

Even Derwaayne would be better, which is saying something.

Was considering starting a new thread for this, but it might as well go here:

If we had a "press red for dees" match on Foxtel, who would we as supporters want the commentary team to be?

So far I've only come up with... Garry Lyon, David Schwarz... Dr. Turf? Gets a bit thin about there.

You'd need some comedy in there, so maybe Hamish Blake or Ryan Shelton?

Rob Sitch probably wouldn't stoop to it.

It would be great to have a Max Gawn on the field and another in the commentary box.

Mal Walden possibly. Don't know what he'd be like calling sport though?

Doesn't take any sport-calling skill.

"Kick it!!! Kick it long!!! BALL!!!!!!!!!! You white maggot!! Kick it to Hogan! Kick it to Hogan! BALL!!!!! Chewie on ya boot! You white maggot!" etc

Russell Robertson singing special comments would be outstanding.

Beverley O'Connor doing special comments in a bikini would be good too

Maybe he'd agree to do it on the condition it was Rob Sitch as Bruce McAvaney?

Just realised how much I miss him on Ten News. What a farce that's become with Quarterbrain as the lead anchor, alongside some no-name deer-in-headlights cohort.

Agreed, Channel 10 used to be the only main stream news program I'd watch.

They started to go downhill when they fired Kapalos, and they've never really recovered.

The only reason I'm enjoying this disgusting, pathetic, unprofessional, bias, one-sided commentary is because I know we win this game

It is an absolute disgrace that they let Eddie commentate Collingwood games.

I pay so much money for Foxtel so I can listen to this jackass. It's sickening

I can't believe this is allowed, it's actually making a mockery of the game

Can't wait to hear him explode later when we win!

The incomprehensible firing of Kapalos coincided with their complete nose-dive in ratings and share value. It was also less than a year after their moron CEO passed on the AFL rights. Definitely no coincidence, there.

But I digress. Can they please get the AFL rights back and spare us from Seven's monopoly? Ten are second-to-none in sports coverage. Big Bash is sensational in the Summer.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
