Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Cost us a goal earlier on when he dropped a simple mark in the Collingwood backline, tired at the end of the third, but other than that, he had a really good game.

He has always had the ability and had shown a lot of potential in the glimpses we had before this year. He just needed the chance, I don't think his body let him play over 3 games on the trot in the seniors before this year.

His body is still a big question mark, but personally am not surprised at all by how he is performing

Always had good hands and for a 200+ had solid skills.

Suspect tank and body but it's so good to see it all come together for Max.

Hopefully one of many to come through.

I have been reading all your posts for a couple of years but rarely contribute. But today I feel the need.Last year I opined that Max had a great future in front of him.I was right!

My son plays for the Ormond footy club. On the Saturday before we beat Geelong Max was watching Ormond .He did play for Ormond so he drops down occasionally. At 1/4 time I walked onto the ground to the players' huddle - and Max was just behind me.So I couldn't resist the chance to say "Well done Max you're playing good footee-keep at it".He smiled and held up his hands as if marking a ball and said " I've just got to learn to take a few of these".Then he went down to Geelong and the rest is history! I believe that I helped Max feel more confident about himself and turned his career around!!!Go Max ( and yes,he is big when up close)

Boys, if ya listened to the podcast you'd know he ain't going anywhere next year. "We've gone through too much for us to disband now." Kinda direct quote.

He sounds like he has a good relationship with the Russian. Admires his more manicured beard...

Big Treebeard will show the Russian how to put the dukes up.

He dropped a few early, but no one was down. I think he got in either Lynden 'The Road Dog' Dunn's path or Shy Garland...but those boys should be bloody parting the red sea for him to snag 'em! Stay down and sweep up when he knocks through 'em! He's 115 from memory and he'll get even bigger...

In proportion too. Can wheel it like a proper mobile ruck.

And he thinks Spence has the biggest arms in the world since the fallen Hulk Hogan.

Speaking of Hogan...love the way he walks.

Dingo, my podcast brethren grew up with Max Gawn in Ormond. Matty Marsh used to have a kick with him in the street and play Robert Harvey to his taps. Maxy's fav player was Clinton (for Richmond)...

We gave him a nice little pump up on Wednesday night and he had a laugh during our interview. Was watching the Batchelor. We reckon he'll be worth a few big bags of cash at the end of the year, but is more likely to be ON the Batchelor than in different colours next year...

Y'ken listen to him here...from about the 10 minute mark onwards...

Nice one. I remember commenting during the Geelong game that it was as if he'd just suddenly realised he was supposed to mark it. He'd always had safe hands while playing in the VFL apparently, and has turned in to a reliable pack mark now.

Engine is probably his main priority to work on now, I'd think. He looks knackered in final quarters, though this is hardly surprising with the stop-start nature of his career to date, though that seems to be behind him now hopefully. Some adequate help in the ruck wouldn't go astray either.

If Jamar can improve his goal kicking, he'd be an option.

Outside of that, Spencer can provide ruck relief, but he needs to provide some utility beyond ruck duties.

Charlie Dixon would be an ideal target at years end.

If you look at his stats for the 34 games he's played (over 3 seasons?), they're actually pretty good. We may see how far he's come next week when he comes up against Goldy (away from ES).

Agreed. Next week against Goldstein will highlight his lack of fitness.

He was struggling to stand up straight at the end of the third quarter.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
