Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tmac can be very frustrating but this is way over the top.

25 disposals

12 intercepts

11 marks

1 goal

4 score involvements

7 pressure acts

6 intercept marks

99 pts for supercoach which subtracts points for clangers

88% DE

Yeah lets drop him    Bloody useless

He does need to clean up some of his disposal and decision making. ( why on earth he kicked out from full back is beyond me)

88% DE  - i have commented before the DE is a bit of fluff stat as defenders tend to switch the ball around and short pass across the ground as the opposition zone will allows this - so there DE will always look better than say in an under midfielder like Tyson or Viney.

And as frustrating as TMac can be his good far outweighs his bad but if he improved this part of his game he would be an AA defender.

And THAT is evidence of why that particular stat is useless.

A bunch of his kicks came flying back inside defensive 50 for a shot on goal by the Dogs in the first half.

FCS.......Everybody says "Take risks" and when it comes off it is great........When it doesn't the poor players get lambasted as having poor decision making abilities

So supporters just want to take risks when they come off but not when they don't.....You can't have it both ways

At least Tom attempts to get the ball moving with his run out of the back line and, yes, it sometimes backfires.   It not his fault they are playing this zone thingy.

said it before and ill say it again

Tmac - seasons DE 82% Jack Watts seasons DE 79.2% - who would rather have kicking the ball ? DE should be taken with a small grain of salt

we are heading towards finals (probably next year) as good as JW has been this season deep down we all know he won't stand up in finals, due to his good form so far this season he has some trade value.

Generally the mentality of "taking risks" for our team is about playing on, not kicking it straight to the opposition. That's a different kind of risk.

How about we make the finals first and then worry about who will and won't stand up.

Wow......What a statement that is.......Much better to trade a 100 game player that is starting to become the player we wanted for a pimpley face 18 year old who will need at least 3 years.    Give me a break.

Actually you can have it both ways. Bernie Vince takes risks and I will concede that sometimes it doesn't come off  - however it is not usually because he disposes badly.

Tmac attempts to run out the back line don't (occasionally ) backfire because he takes a risky option - it backfires because at times under little pressure he disposes poorly.

I would prefer the Tmac continue to attack and run - I just want him to take the 2-3 bad disposals per game out of his game ( the difference is kicking to a contest vs kicking straight to the opposition)

I actually think he will.

We won't know for sure until it happens, but the way he got himself back into the game on Sunday to me shows that he's over whatever mental demons he might have previously had.

In fact I wish more of his team mates lifted in the second half as he did.

First half he was nowhere. His dropped mark was terrible, and has become a bit of a pattern. But then he worked his way into it. It was a weird game by Jack.

He wasn't alone in the dropped marks - TGGM and Hogan also dropped 'sitter' chest marks.

18 hours ago, binman said:

Poor in the first half - like Hogan just didn't seem switched on. That said gut run a number of times and players failed to honour the run to space.

I was impressed by his effort to turn his game around and keep competing. Sublime kick.

That happened quite a bit v GC too, but the space so created was used better (or was allowed to be used better) in that game.

Not every lead will nor should ever be honoured, but the leads should still be made to open up space.  We just failed to use that space yesterday.

Exactly, we should Waite and see, absurd to suggest otherwise.

Jack dropped a mark, big deal....it happens.

I reckon the coaching team in the review would be a bit more concerned that he failed to block Easton - Woods run and let him pull down a big grab in the first...I think Jack actually knew it though.

All in all I thought he was good, he gave an option, used the ball well and got involved. Not everyone's going to be a beast at the contest.

If watts got a dollar for every time he was burnt by someone he could double his salary

And Jetta was delisted...and I would suggest now he is one of the first picked every week.

And Trengove was almost at Richmond and that fell through and he got a one year contract extension.

Seems that the club may be a bit more "fluid" in its thinking than some posters.

Surely trolling.

Watts is playing career best footy, we are stricken for quality tall forwards and he has never played finals. Your logic is breathtaking.

Should we have taken NicNat?

The angst over Hogan and Fremantle is enough to try and cope with, thank you very much.

At the end of their careers, I think we'll look back and be pretty happy with the decision to take Watts at 1.

Yeah nah. That is too convenient an excuse. He kicks to opposition players standing 5 to 10 metres on their own. That has nothing to do with taking risks. That's just poor execution.

His skill errors directly result in opposition goals every week. Let's not pretend otherwise. His marking and reading of the the flight is generally very good. I'd prefer to see him handing the ball off to a Salem or a Vince, because there seems to be a gross overestimation of his kicking.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
