Of course Roos needs to get his head out of his ar$e and start to take some responsibility for the team.

But the team also need to take responsibility for their own actions. I apportion 99% of today's performance to the team

Paul Roos' team. The team he's being paid $1.5 million to make sure something like this doesn't happen.

Paul Roos, simply is not up to it.

Starting to think, it was his deputies that had the goods at the Swans.

Lyon and Longmuire, Roos was just the front man.

think his mind has already chequed (sic) out to hawaii

You wanted me to write "War and Peace" instead of sharing a quick observation ?

I'll leave that up to you.

Fair call!

Coming back now like a steam train, but pretty disappointing first half...

Even Rievwoldt could see sense. Carazzo killing Jones. Blind freddy can tell that Jones on Murphy is the go (to give them a 2 on 1 to think about), rather than wasting Vince when we are 8 goals down.

This is a product of overrating Jones and Murphy.

I am sick of introverted thinking in the coaches box, and introverted action on the ground. Tommy Mc take em on for god's sake. Grimes, know your limitations!

If Roos gives us another broad view about the footy world this week I'll spew.

Can't wait for Roos to 'earn' his million dollars by absolving himself of all blame in the post-match press conference.

He's checked out. Bottom line.

I think that's unfair, but I despair that we constantly hunt the man and not the ball.

Vince hunts a player, Viney hunts a player. We seem so reactionary to the opposition, especially around the stoppages.

I'd just love to see us go head to head with the bottom of the table team and if we're getting beaten then apply measures to limit their output. FFS, why not start on a level playing field and back ourselves.

This team is devoid of courage, flair and any ability to move the footy. Two years in and that's your responsibility Paul.

The players aren't responding to a bloke who is on 1.5 mil.

Would they respond to a bloke who is on 500k.

I don't know, but we'd save a mil, and they couldn't possibly do any worse than currently

At the moment, the way I see it, we'd be better off putting a spare million into the women's side.

That is the only thing we have going for us atm.

Goodwin already works with these players.

We need to clean out the leadership group and recruit senior players

Otherwise it is more of the same.

Like Dawes, Harry O.......get them to undergo some group bonding leadership courses etc... and get the young ones on board. No more older players that are not quite right or want a pension. Other than Vince I'm not 2 impressed with the older ones we have brought in.

Maybe Pro Dee but we were red hot on Neeld playing the 'don't link me with them' card when we lost and I'm not seeing much different from Roosy. And I didn't see much proactive coaching in the first half last week and this week. I agree entirely that we don't back ourselves. For mine, this was the worst loss of the season...and that's saying something.

Been out all day thankfully, haven't seen any video but I checked the stats to find we won the clearances and the inside 50's, marks inside 50 while other stats such as for contested possession were close. I was expecting to see that we got smashed in the centre and had 35 odd I50s. Lousy kicking for goal did not help. Agree with many here, where is the leadership?

It is hard to work out this mob and if we will ever turn the corner

Why should we have any expectation that Things will improve when Goodwin takes over? He's Roos hand-picked man.

Because unlike Roos, Goodwin is yet to establish himself as a coach and will want to try and forge the best reputation he can.

Goodwin's heart will be 100% in it, i doubt Roos' ever was and will be for the rest of his coaching tenure.

But Goodwin is already in there.

Nothing will change without radical list management.

I want Goodwin to succeed but this group of players will kill his career

Gee the Roos apologists have gone into hiding.....

But hey we aren't allowed to question the messiah. Because nobody else could do a better job. The consultant doesn't have the answers, therefore no-one has the answers. There are people in this thread that are pretty delusional.

Of the newbie coaches, Richardson has done a better job. Beveridge has done a better job, Simpson has done a better job, Hinkley has done a better job.

I am scared that Goodwin has already taken over match day coaching,. Then we are in deeper do dos than I think we are....

I prefer to think PR is playing (recruiting) the man, rather than the ball (matchday coaching).

I have not much faith that Im right.

Sums up the Paul Roos appointment to a T.

Never had his heart in it and i guess the players never really did either. Acted like a consultant from day one.

There is no Demon in most of this lot and most have simply turned up their toes when it suited them. We do not resemble a bunch of Demons on the field in any way whatsoever and should be renamed the Melbourne "Pretenders".

Even the Roy Boys gave a yelp more often than this lot with virtually no funds behind them. I was hoping beyond hell that Roos would offer something better, but we are simply the worst club in the league by a country mile....again.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
