They'll be lucky to keep up for half a quarter. Let's hope the Hawks don't take it easy.

In other news, Tom Boyd was dropped.

Leadup TV prior to tonight's game, just corny crud. Carey and Ling J.sus H Christ. The host whatever his name is , well lets just say different and McAveny should be doing the races from Hong Kong.

Is this the best 7 can do?

Foxtel aren't doing much better. "Carlton have been really competitive winning 2 from their last 6"

Carlton are crap and will get smashed, just call it as it is.

Just listen to Ling tonight. The bloke LOVES the sound of his own voice and he spouts utter dribble, particularly early in the game when he tries to get across this fake excitement about what's happening on the field. It's horrible to listen to.

And he's the only boundary rider ever who's 'required' to speak every 30 seconds

Just then, Carlton had the ball on the half forward line, kicked it sideways (they had the ball for a long time) and then Buckley finally got the ball and kicked it long to the goal square, however the only players there were three Hawks.

Why do coaches allow their forwards to push so far up the ground?

Do they not want their forwards to kick goals?

It wasn't as if Carlton didn't have time to get back, this is exactly what is wrong with football today.

It's great to watch because it's Carlton getting flogged, but it's also hard to watch as I see so much of 2013 Melbourne in their performance.

Spot on they kept up for close to half a Q then it was all over...

Would like to see someone belt Gibson in the guts as pay back for earlier...

Tuned into tonight's game and must say in contrast to the above I am enjoying the contest, free flowing game, skills on full display from both sides and yes the scoring is a bit one sided but this is still a great spectacle. And I must say I really loved Ronaldo's goal for Madrid to go 2 up, football at its best.

With such a big soccer game on at the MCG right now this game is exactly the last thing the AFL needs right now.

Serves them right, they are directly responsible for this mess. Not only the dilution of talent across the league to protect their precious expansion experiment, but they scheduled Carlton 7 Friday night games. Laughably shortsighted and they deserve every shred of criticism they're getting.

Shocking for the competition. No joy in this even if it's Carlton. Only good footy news so far is the likelihood of GW$ losing Treloar because of the money Sheedy wasted trying to punish Melbourne.

Shocking how? Do the Hawks academy players or COLA?

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
