It is not as though this game was going to get us into the finals.

I'm not talking about just one game. He missed all of last year and now 2 games this year through "soreness".

Just wondering if it's going to need to be managed for his entire career, and if there's potential for recurring injuries due to his back.

McKenzie comes into the squad of 25, which doesn't mean he's playing...

We'll find out tonight anyway.

If posters had a long term view of what our team is going to look like in three years time, they'd realise bringing in McKenzie or any other second-tier player who's been solid in the VFL makes much more sense than bringing in one of our underdone kids who are still developing.

This is entirely about developing a really strong seconds side with kids having to earn games. McKenzie and co won't be around next year. We wont be playing finals this year. So why is it so hard to see a bloke like him come in rather than a kid we're trying to develop?

I'm rejoicing that the club is doing things like resting Hogan when his body requires it.

Its pathetic they allow about 100 opposition supporters in.

It's a myth the only allow 100 opposition supporters in. I bought tickets through ticketmaster.com.au earlier in the week Hundreds of seats plus GA still left then. And yes, as usual at Geelong I fully expect to be surrounded by Geelong supporters but this will be my 5th or 6th visit there. Saw the win, the draw and that loss plus a couple of others.

Jesse's a young bash & crash kpf in his first year. Back related or not,, I'd imagine it's the responsible course of action to continue to manage him going forward throughout his career.

AFL's pretty demanding these days, and it's getting harder and harder for players to play every game in a season, never mind young blokes early in their careers.

I agree old dee, and with what stmj said regarding thinking of the big picture. I said earlier it is better to be disappointed for a week than to be disappointed for the remainder of the season.

Jesse made the comment in the media when he withdrew last time that due to his very heavy playing weight on his young body, he requires extra care to avoid injury. If his body is saying it needs rest, we rest it. He's only a baby and we're not competing for finals, there will be plenty of time for flogging him later on, hopefully when his body is up to maintaining the rigour of AFL footy for 26 matches a year.

Its not the fact that its jordie coming in more like another selection blunder especially when down back they have River Lonergan and Taylor who will mark everything that comes their way. We have Dawes as our only tall forward and thats it.. Would have been perfect opportunity for Fitzy to go up forward and help Dawes out. Id rather try and get games into him then Jordi who lets be honest is finished at the end of the year.

We will lucky to score more then 5 goals this week.

I'd love to see the club justify why Fitzpatrick has not been selected in the absence of Pedersen and now Hogan. Either he is fit enough to play this week or he isn't.

I can't see the value to playing him at Casey when he provides the tall forward / backup ruck we desperately need. What do we do when Gawn runs out of puff in the third quarter - put McDonald in the ruck?

If we get within 15 goals this week it will be a miracle.
