Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He didn't dish it, he pushed and shoved. For a guy known as the ox, big and strong, it was weak and he knows it. I was 15 metres from the Long hit on Snake Simmonds. I thought he was dead. Unfortunately no one else did anything to retaliate. It is the only time I have been disappointed with the Ox. If not for 3 knee recos, we would be talking about him as Carey number 2.

I met Long a couple of years ago and told him he was a great player, except for that incident. He said he could have killed him and was happy he was ok.

You are spot on there, we were embarrassing and did nothing to fly the flag for our teammates. That was a dog act by Long to target a player with his head down over the ball and to smash in to him that way was as low as anything I've ever seen on a football field.

The Melbourne players didn't give a yelp and just let it go, I went to that game expecting we would get beaten but not humiliated.

On Jack, he is a very good player and always has been, but for some reason gets targeted by a large section of the Demonland posters, some of whom wouldn't have a clue. He has had his share of injuries and if he isn't BOG in his first game back he cops both barrels

He has copped more criticism than the majority of the other players combined, except perhaps James Harmes.

It amazes me that some posters on here just come on to rubbish the players without knowing what their role is in the game.

Who’s the player we hope Jack makes cry in the granny? I’d hope that early match he lays a strong tackle on Bont that has us feeling the aftershock tremors here in Melbourne.

Libba and Weightman. Hate them both and both are crucial to the Dogs winning.

Libba because he has really [censored]  tattoos that for some reason really bother me. Weightman because he plays for free kicks and has a really punchable head. Other than that let the doggies play. We’ve got them covered.

Will be interested to see weightman factor in this game, it's obviously something that will have been mentioned to the umpires, so it could backfire hard on him.

I also think they'll be on the look out for anything dodgey towards Gawn, so in the confusion i'd love to see us do the same thing to Bont, the Giants did it

Cody Weightman is definitely a contender, Bailey Smith I’d throw in as well. I’d also love to see one of our defenders smash Hannan (very fairly though) I’ve got no hate towards Mitch but it’s about letting him know that while you have mates off the field at the Dees, on field it’s fair game.

I think I’m right in saying there’s practically no Melbourne player left in the squad who played with Stef Martin.

Rather than hoping he belts someone, it would be better to hope he plays a full game like his PF first half. That would be an enormous start on a win.

Agreed. Another thing is he needs to do is control his aggression. In particular he needs to cut out the 'flying the flag' nonsense once we already have the free kick.

His work at the stoppages recently has been excellent; when you're on a good thing stick to it.

Weightman and Hunter, if they duck into a tackle rip their [censored] heads off.

All the above are good nominations...Bailey Smith for me.

Could be an award winning photo if someone catches it perfectly, hair flying all over the place.

Just for a complete change of topic, this talk of Jack Viney got me thinking about something entirely different, and nothing at all to do with Jack Viney.

THE LEGEND OF THE GOLEM

Steeped in Jewish folklore, the basic story of the golem typically follows a given path: a highly intelligent, learned person — usually a rabbi — creates a being out of clay to serve the Jewish community. That being is then given a sort of quasi-life after a person carves or otherwise installs a mystical phrase like the secret name of God onto the creature's body. It awakens as a golem. Though silent, it's tremendously strong and not terribly thoughtful. Often, something goes awry, like a poorly worded command, and the golem turns from a helpful protector to a community menace. Its creator is then forced to put the creature down, often by altering its life-giving inscription.

As the story generally goes, Rabbi Loew created the golem to serve the Jewish community of 16th century Prague, which was beset by antisemitism. He took clay from a nearby river and built the golem, inscribing emet on the creature's forehead. The golem went on to do both mundane and wondrous things, from protecting the people in the Jewish ghetto to summoning the spirits of those who were long dead. Eventually, the golem went on a rampage, tearing apart the Jewish community, and Loew was forced to smear the clay inscription to met [i.e., destroy the golem].

I'm sensing a rampage tomorrow night in Perth, and hopefully our coaching team have the magical inscription to bring the golem back under control after the match is over. Not that this has anything to with Jack Viney.

We are societal story tellers @Mazer Rackham - love your work. It's better than grand final replays that never involve the Dees.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
