Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think that latest one doesn't really say anything that isn't true. In fact, it's fairly well balanced. Viney should consider himself lucky he only got one week.

You think it's well balanced? I've seen jumper punches with more force.

Only on Monday, one was found guilty of murder. No, the scale is not nearly the same, and yes, the rules are different on the football ground. But they are not suspended altogether. By ever so few degrees, the sight of one footballer belting another in the head legitimises the act more broadly.

It's never good to lose a player of Jack's importance, but I disagree in relation to the timing. I think the timing of the injury may not be as bad as it could've been.

In the next month, we have the bye, Hawks, Swans (SCG) and Pies. With the bye he misses only three games instead of four. You would also think we'd be fairly long odds to beat the Hawks and Swans even with Viney.

So for me he is only missing one 50-50 game (Pies) when it could've been four. And the Pies have their fair share of injuries as well.

Did Viney make Greg Baum cry at some point? He has written another article about him.

He wrote this article when Viney got off after the Lynch incident last year.

I see Rancid's pathetic cheap shot on Watts has been forgotten. Only the fact that Viney 'attacked' him remains.

Nah mate, I remember it happening.  Viney was already walking off.  It was byplay between two friends.  There was no "helping" about it.

Ok. Can't argue as I haven't seen the game yet as away. Just looked at the photo.

I really felt like Baum lost the plot with citing the Rance incident, and it is also key for me that Viney is front on, not a dirty sniper. The only thing I'm sad about is that he didn't hold the jumper, not smart, but cut lunches he is throwing, or palms shall we say are different to a king hit merchant.

That's less of a blow that Viney.

He picked a shocking time to break his hand throwing a punch.

Good story > facts

I bet this myth carries on for years now. Sigh.

Scoop, the dees website is saying he'll miss 3-4 matches, not weeks. My read on this is he may not be right the week after the bye. Another way of saying 4-6 weeks.

Is there proof of when he did the injury? First I remember seeing it was after he hit Ebert.

Not saying there isnt but if the club is ssying it not sure id believe it.

Wait. The reporting and the responses on here re. the timing and circumstances of Viney's injury are all over the shop. AFL article says he hit Ebert in the third which is not true. Mahoney says Viney injured his hand early in the first. Someone said in a tweet it was just before the Ebert incident which was late in the first. And the footage showed attention to Viney's hand after the incident with Ebert. I'm not looking to call anyone a [censored] but just want to understand the truth of what happened. I know the boy is tough, but if he had popped a knuckle early, it's odd that he's then throwing punches with it not too long after. And would it be fair then to conclude he at least aggravated it with Ebert?

After the game Ebert didn't have any swelling let alone a bruise. If Viney broke his knuckle punching Ebert to the face, Ebert would have had swelling and brushing straight away.

Not if when slapping him he hit him at an awkward angle. I just find it "convenient " that it happened "prior" to the punches. But then again i love a good conspiracy theory :)

It's just laughable to suggest he broke fingers slapping Ebert in the face when Ebert didn't have so much as a red cheek.  I once punched a wall with a fair bit of force (not full force) and had some minor bruising of my knuckles. The only time I've ever seen anyone break fingers by punching someone, the recipient of the punch got totally flattened.

Come on guys, it's just silly.  We're just fueling our need for conspiracy theories against all common sense by running with this one.

It's funny you should say that. I split my index knuckle hitting someone playing in a match of footy. It was the last time I did either of those things. But the guy was unmarked. My throw was off and he ducked slightly and I caught some solid bone around the top off his head. I don't actually care if that's how Jack did it, but that the reporting seems a bit strange. Anyways, I'll move on.

He's a smart kid Jack. So just to be silly and add more weight to conspiracy, I'll say he injured it early first qtr, realised how serious it was, knew that he would miss weeks and require surgery; (ruin any hope of a Brownlow). And when push came to shove, he thought stuff it...I'll give Ebert a few love taps just for kicks and see if I can stir my boys up and pull their finger out, at the same time send a warning out - you want to rough us up?... Here cop this.

Sounds fair.

Perhaps he did break it prior to punching Ebert. He knew it was broken and would miss a few games so he decided to show Ebert a bit of love.

You all forget the report that Viney was seen exiting a surgery last week, reportedly about a finger/hand issue. He told reporters it was okay, to forget about it. Any money he went into the game with the issue...

Does anyone know which knuckle he did? Just from a forensics perspective. And if perhaps there was a puff of smoke seen rising from behind that leafy tree on the field?

Check Eberts bowel motions.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
