Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I've finally worked out the secret on how to demonland

You never critique anything or anyone negatively

no matter how carp they are, you keep talking up players

no matter how awful we are, you keep saying 'i'm backing us to win this week'

then, at some point in the future, one of your chickens will inevitably come home to roost

then you come here and act like a hero bigshot knowall

sorry had to be said

Well I've completely ballsed it up. Apologies to all.

Need more than that. 100 should be the benchmark.

agreed but it was a positive..

Setting benchmarks are about setting levels that are achievable. You do know how rarely teams get to 100 tackles. FYI - our 88 tackles was the highest of any team this weekend.

Interesting game for me today. I was a guest of a Bulldogs player (who had a stinker really)and his family. Saw the Rev having a drink at the bar in the Tom Wills Bar. He looks his normal self and said hello but of course we know the battle in front of him. Loved the game but had to be at my diplomatic best surrounded by the Bulldog fans, as their guest. They left at the 20 minute mark of the final quarter so I could let it all hang out then for sure.

Thought as many others did that Grimes and the Toump really had good games. Yes it is just a start and the Dogs were not at the best but then we are the ones with all the injuries so it is interesting. When our midfield can compete our whole side can compete and keeps on competing. When our mids get blown away early we drop our bundle as a side it seems. Special mention to Fitzy, the experiment may work, let's hope so. He is big and fast at ground level so if he plays to his strengths who knows and it seems he is reading it well down back.

A terrific win!

However, for me the most curious sight of the day from my seats behind the goals on the top deck of the Ponsford was a bloke who spent more time knitting what looked like a green tea-cosy or possibly a beanie than watching the game. And he was a Demon supporting bloke in his 20s.

Can't say I've seen that at the footy before, but good luck to him.

A number of tackles didn't stick today. I believe we beat that tackle count against Adelaide and Richmond. So it is very achievable.

M. Jones following the J. Magner slide from 'raw but important mid' to 'small forward with very little pressure' to 'surplus to requirements'.

In no way is this meant as a sleight to either of those two players, they were exactly what we needed at the time. But even Blind Freddy knew that if we were to improve, they should quickly be rendered NQR. As much as I love Jordie McKenzie for the same reason, circa his recruitment through to last year, if we're to move forward, we need someone who has more skills than 'having a crack'. I'll continue to stand by our #13, but unfortunately other players have surpassed his skill level on exposed form.

To think that Dean Terlich and M.Jones came 3rd & 4th in the 2013 B&F... Shows how far back this side was coming from when Roos took over Edited by JV7

we were stickier than usual though

Agreed. And we worried them out of a lot of disposals or cheap hit up kicks, just by harassing and not necessarily tackling.

His one chance to influence the game he shanks the kick after he should have hand allied it to Garlett in the square.

His one chance? His effort to nearly take a great grab in the third but not quite drag it down but fight on like a tiger , handball to Jones who kicked to Hogan for a goal was critical.

Did you see the look on Roosy's face when he was bumped off the ball by Dalhaus in the final quarter, costing a crucial goal?

Yep, I did.

Also saw the incident...he was already off balance when Dalhaus came in from his blind side.

One of a thousand incidents that happen on the footy field.

We move on.

Tom McDonald must have reveled in the opportunity to be just a boring defender, for once, rather than the gatekeeper between the MFC and complete oblivion.

If McDonald was the gatekeeper, then Fitzpatrick was the keymaster today.

Toumpas disappointed me twice today. The ridiculous panicked handball in the square in the third that cost us...enough said.

And going nack with the flight on the wing in the first, he stuck his hand up and did nothing when he should have taken the mark. BUT immediately after he ran about 150 hard metres to end up with a mark and shot on goal. All was forgiven.

i hope he kicks on I really do..i want to like him so much.

Geez, i thought that running back with the flight was the best thing he has done in his career. He hurt himself from that contest n had to come off. I watched him closely and as he was getting his breath back i saw the phone get handed to him. I guarantee u Roosy was thinking the same thing as me.

Dunno why this made me laugh so much. Probably the last sentence.

I am very happy to admit that I was wrong about this week.

Thought we would get our ar#es handed to us but we didn't.

Great win boys but do it AGAIN next week.

Likewise. But justifiable.

Honestly, after the Hawks' slaughter, I couldn't see where the next win was going to come from...

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
