Stop picking on the poor kid. Olisik's favourite topics to post about are draft picks and trades. If they didn't have that, then they would never contribute to this forum.

Just leave it be.

Criticise the thread now but it will still be up and running in 4 months time and as active as ever

I read in an article the other day about the issue of GWS and CG mining talent with their crazy draft concessions and the effect that has had on CARTLON's ability to recruit.

NOT US, CARLTON!

But when we made the same argument last year, no press, no sympathy.

Yeah, if I was a Richmond supporter I would also be a bit p...off. Say if they had of been able to pick up Cameron and Shiel in their rebuild they might be a real team. As it is they have had their shot and are on the way out.

The draft concessions have been great for the Hawks and Cats as it has allowed them to sit at the top whilst their challengers haven't been able to put the icing on the cake with some good talent.

As for the PP, you could almost guarantee Carlton will get one if they are down for another season.

I'd much rather the league quietly get involved in getting the club a superstar free agency.

The NBA frequently gets involved in blocking trades etc., and essentially forced Chris Paul to the Clippers after blocking a trade that would have send him to the Lakers (who at the time had won 2 championships in a row).

Yep, I think it's time the AFL actually did their job and seriously dealt with equalisation...

A PP alone is no real help but addressing things like FA and the free movement of players to the top clubs is important to the health of the competition and their brief is to look after the game. They are failing their duty in my opinion.

Forget all the smoke and mirror issues and get it done Dill.

Why is there still even a priority pick? Why haven't they gotten rid of it yet?

To help us out after we only win 4 games this year and finish in the bottom 4 for the 5th year in a row

The dees are good enough to win another 4-5 games. Hardly the onfield rabble we have been in the past.

This is some sick fantasy you have mate.

it's the afl..........don't know their left hand from their right

besides they might need it one day to prop up their precious new franchises

kill this thread.

no more handouts

It has been over half a decade since our last 'handout'...

Olisik's premise that we won't win many more games is a morbid outlook of the season but if we were to finish this season so poorly I wouldn't be so unequivocal about applying the rules that are established for bad teams like ours.

Doesn't look like we can win to many more games so I wander if this 'secret formuler' by the AFL will grant us a PP if we win less then 4 games.

Pick 1 and 2,3 or 4 could definitely snag us a star or 2 in trades and set us up

We will easily win more than 4 games

Reverend is she listening ?

Here goes

Oh please God can you let my team perform well enough one year that we are not discussing

Draft picks and Priority Picks in May.

Please after 50 years can you help out.

I wonder which media pundit posts under "olisik" to stir up hornets nests?

I refuse to believe a real supporter could be so incredibly and blatantly... <insert your own adjective here>

Constantly complaining about threads rather then contributing.

Right now we are being thumped in every facet of the game with barely 5 players who are at AFL standard. We been bottom dwellers for 8 years and need all the help we can get.

It's a fair question and I hope we definitely go guns blazing for a PP if we don't pick it up a notch.

It makes more sense then making threads about targeting Aish, Prestia, Dangerfield ect when we have Jack [censored] currency to trade unless people want to see us lose Viney, TMac or Hogan.

Absolutely no chance we win less than five games. Bookmark it. Besides, why are we having this PP conversation again?

simple answer is no

we don't need it or want it

and yes we will win more than 4 games

sadly if we don't we might as well fold or merge

The Dees are good enough? They certainly look like the same on field rabble

Round 8 Bulldogs

Round 10 Collingwood

Round 11 StKilda

Round 15 Essendon

Round 16 Brisbane

Round 17 StKilda

Round 18 Collingwood

Round 20 Bulldogs

Round 21 Carlton

I believe they're winnable games. I don't look it as we got smashed by the Hawks and the doggies pushed Freo so therefore it's an automatic loss. However I do think we "just" have a best 22 and that's when Viney, Jetta, Salem and co are not on the injury list, we have no depth full stop. If we have them all back in the second half of the season I think we're a chance of an possible upset of a team outside of the top four, but sitting in the 8.

It was only two weeks ago I cleaned up close to $1400 for two $10 multis for tipping the Saints over the dogs and the Giants over the Hawks.

As for the priority pick.....,.next.

Even if we don't win another game we aren't getting a priority pick, we've had a stupidly strong case the last two years for one, and the AFL said no.

And our attitude should be win every game, if we win this week, build some confidence and get Viney back we could beat the power in their current form and Collingwood and suddenly we are 5 and 5 and have an easy draw in the second half of the year playing essendope, Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton, the doggies and saints twice and the power, all winnable games

Finals aren't out of reach if we bring the effort of round 1,3 and 4 consistently and Jeff starts kicking straight

All about confidence and momentum

yep...time to move on folks...doesnt matter what any other team may or may not get .. We just need to concentrate on developing..

The PP does exist in a fashion...its called "weighting" when the AFL decides FA compo....The AFL like this..as there are no rules, no real ones.... thats the AFL way hey !!

A bit like the drug rules bb

Have a system that requires them to do nothing until a problem hits you in the face and you have no choice..

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
