Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Morton or Toumpas

Someone should be called to explain what has happened with ToumpAs. He was a solid junior and obviously his development has gone to [censored].

Right now I would have Morton ahead of Toumpas by a mile, was saw promise and good signs from Morton.

We havnt even had a glimpse of what Toumpas is supposedly meant to offer.

What's the go?

This thread is ridiculous. Give the kid a chance

His has 20 games to show something, usually , like with Brayshaw, Hogan, Viney, Salem ect you see glimpses. We havnt seen a thing from Toumpas.

HIs development has gone pear shape somewhere and it should be looked into. Serious issue

So you'd rather have Morton on the list than Toumpas..?

Well, Cale's playing VFL this year so I'm sure he could be drafted pretty cheaply at the end of the year.

As I don't think any of Jimmys short coming have anything to do with lack of effort, I'll stand by the MFC player.

Right now yes, I think Morton would be a more dangerous player then Jimmy

Glimpses are not what is needed. He was recruited as an outside mid with pace which he doesn't have

Only the MFC could make such a decision.

There are frustrations over the recruitment of Jimmy Toumpas and countless threads to air these in.

The inclusion of Morton and the idea that some would redraft Cale Morton over having Toumpas is a little absurd.

If Jimmy is moved on by the MFC at year's end he will definitely be on an AFL list next year.

He needs time- maybe not with us, but someone will give it to him.

I wont dispute the fact that melbourne should have chosen ollie wines, or macrae instead of him but at the time, if you can remember, toumpas was so highly rated many thoight gws would take him with pick two or three. So i dont think only melbourne could make such a decision

I do think comparing toumpas to cale morton is quite premature

Should we wait 100 like with Watts? Or 150 like with Sylvia? Because even they showed more in their first 20 games then Toumpas has.

no question, Toumpas all day & all night. he will be good if we treat him the right way in his development.

but once a kid has the yips by bringing him in too soon, it takes a long time if he gets damaged. he has been damaged a bit, but he is salvageable. his career should be fine IF they want to put the time & patience into him. he has to be patient as well, with himself.

A proven AFL coach will tell you to not judge a player until they have 80 to 100 games up their sleeve.

But who am i kidding.. i dont expect you and WYL to work that out.

There is 2 things I expect recruiters to focus on when drafting young kids..

1. Can this kid play football? I want players to make an immediate impact.

2. Can this kid mentally handle the rigors of AFL football.

Other characteristics that are integral - good inside a contest, balance, spread, the ability to harness aggression and control pace.

It isn't rocket science to find the Luke Parkers, Ollie Wines, Angus Brayshaws, Dustin Martins, Steele Sidebottoms of the draft.

Yet we drafted Toumpas, he doesn't tick any of those boxes, he had shot hips, and IMO (I know others see it different) he didn't look overly impressive in the nationals prior to getting drafted.

speed aint everything WYL...

Hodge & Mitchell don't have it. most mids aren't real quick.

I think we should lay off the Toump, let him go back & just develop. he isn't ready just yet... that isn't a crime & he didn't pick himself.

Surely it is a little harder than you think otherwise those players would have gone at number one...

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
