Have you forgotten Jetta ? (back pocket) and Kent would be on my half forward line. Newton as a IC.

I wouldn't have vandenBerg in the ruck. Otherwise pretty much agree with your selected team.

Not sure with some of the axings etc. wait and see how the year pans out I guess at this stage.

This thread gets more interesting after today.

Dunn and Garland are very underrated here. These 2 have been so reliable down back it seems unusual to not have them both as permanent fixtures in the team next year.

After recent weeks, certainly yesterday, Pedersen has zoomed past Dawes as the second tall forward. Makes contests, takes marks, kicks goals, keeps out of Hogan's way (and vice versa), can ruck and can play back if needed. Winner on all counts.

After today, albeit vs no star ruck, you would still axe Spencer!?? He was a brute and I just loved his follow up efforts after centre clearances. Even made somed good choices and execution with the ball in hand. Who would you have as ruckman? I see you list vandenBerg !? Edited by monoccular

Frost and Peders streets ahead of Dawes, King closing in.

Hope to see White putting pressure on Jetta by the end of the year.

Couldn't be bothered trying to place them into positions nor do a full on review but this is my best 22 based on weighted average of stats so far this season (ranked on averages so it's fair vs games played). This may include too many talls etc due to the fact it's purely based on stats. Yes i know it's a horrid way of ranking but frankly i CBB going in depth this season given it's all over already (again).

1 Nathan Jones 2 Bernie Vince 3 Tom McDonald 4 Daniel Cross 5 Jack Grimes 6 Jack Viney 7 Dom Tyson 8 Lynden Dunn 9 Jeremy Howe 10 Jesse Hogan 11 Heritier Lumumba 12 Colin Garland 13 Jimmy Toumpas 14 Ben Newton 15 Aaron Vandenberg 16 Angus Brayshaw 17 Jack Watts 18 Cameron Pedersen 19 Christian Salem 20 Jake Spencer 21 Jeff Garlett 22 Max Gawn

Outside the 22 are....

23 Neville Jetta 24 Aiden Riley 25 Jack Fitzpatrick 26 Viv Michie 27 Chris Dawes 28 Jay Kennedy-Harris 29 Matt Jones 30 Mark Jamar 31 Billy Stretch 32 Dean Kent 33 Rohan Bail 34 Sam Frost 35 Alex Neil-Bullen

Out of those i would persevere with Jetta, JKH, Stretch, Kent, Frost and ANB.

I wouldn't mind seeing Watts tried as a Ruck rover type, provided we can improve his tank.

He has already shown he can do the 3rd nan up in stoppages.

He has proven he is not a KPP.

Mr Dee-luded ( good name ) the Dees list of quality places has more holes in it than a block of cheese, perhaps you should have left some of the positions blank, the backup players other than vander and stretch are shockers and most

probably will never see afl senior footy again. Our chances for finishing in the bottom two has improved since Carlton has just beaten Port Adelaide. How many of our existing players would get into a Hawthorn or Sydney? We always seem to

have a long way to go………. not even baby steps! Perhaps the club should have trialled several kids in last year's draft who were unlikely to be pick up by other clubs, you could get a diamond or more in the rough. If the Vander story is to

go by,basically he wasn't getting a senior gig with an A.C.T side, his determination to succeed is proof. Then again the club doesn't develop players!

if i had to pick the side i'd want playing for us tomorrow and everyone was fit i'd go with this:

B: Jetta - Dunn - Garland
HB: Salem - T. McDonald - Cross
C: vandenBerg - N. Jones - Vince
HF: Watts - Dawes - Brayshaw
F: Frost - Hogan - Garlett
Foll: Gawn - Tyson - Viney
I/C: Toumpas - Lumumba - Kent
Sub: Petracca
Emerg: Trengove - Kennedy-Harris - Howe

toss up btw howe and pedersen for that final spot.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
