Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Quote: I don't think you could play Hogan at FF. He's too important to halving contests up the field. Unless of course, Dawes starts taking grabs or bringing the ball to his feet in a constructive manner.

Dawes needs to take some marks on his chest and kick some goals. He needs to lead out like Neitz or Dunstall used to. He needs to stop saying dumb boasts on the MFC website and playing to his true potential which was shown 2 years before he left Collingwood. He needs to stop being such a baby about his poor little calves. This is a man's game.

It does [censored] me off the way the media hacks go out of their way to refer to Watts as the 'number 1 draft pick' in their team reports.

FFS, it's coming up 7 years since he was drafted, he's clearly not lived up to a lot of people's expectations and is not hard enough for today's game.

Please, just report it as Watts dropped you muppets.

Lets see how the attitude is.

This will be all above the shoulders MFC

!00%...

I am not sure why some posters even go to the games.

Do I think our talent is anywhere near Hawthorns ? No.

Have I seen over the last two seasons that we can bring effort to a game and push opposition ? Yes.

Hawthorn was scratchy last week. We weren't much chop ( improved late in the game).

If I went to the game with the attitude that we are going to be putrid, I wouldn't bother going.

I go with the attitude that we will bring our best to the game and really push Hawthorn. Will I ultimately end up disappointed - probably but I just can't go to a game thinking we are going to get hammered - I might as well just stay home.

NikNat has hardly inspired and to me his career to date has been a highlight reel and not much more - ultimately disappointing.

I would compare Watts to his own output and he has also been disappointing.

Have you ever shouted this at games? Last year I think, someone near me kept calling Watts a pea heart. Thought it was pretty funny tbh

No never shout out stuff like that about our players at games - not individually anyway I'm sure I lost it with the team as a whole at several points over the last few years.

Just leave him be.

Why? I didn't realise there was a special "Watts clause" where every other player is subject to scrutiny but he is somehow off limits. He is so frustrating because he has the talent but is probably the softest player I've ever seen pull on the Melbourne jumper. You just want someone to grab him by throat Leppa style and shake him til he sees red.

Watts needs some confidence and with all the crap he cops in the media and on social media he is unlikely to get the clear air he needs to build it up. I suspect Roos knows that and is sending him back in the hope he starts to enjoy playing out of the spotlight.

If he showed the prerequisite effort and AFL intensity levels he'd already be enjoying his footy.

This has nothing to do with anyone other than the player himself.

Given the performances last week of Pederson, Newton, JKH and Watts generally, then these aren't surprising outs.

I am concerned though that we will be playing too short this week and that Dawes will have to relieve ruck with a suspect calf.

I have trust in our FD, but I don't think the Hawks have much to worry about this week.

....and your perverse delight in bagging him.

There are plenty of players who don't make it, or aren't that good. Watts is one and the attention and abuse heaped upon him (for things he probably cannot change) is sick and weird. It says a lot about you. I am sick of the mean, sadistic attitude that you and many others here have about the bloke. You enjoy seeing him fail.

You actually enjoy it. And the funny part, the real kicker, is that you question HIS character.

Get help.

Stop being facetious. You know what I'm talking about.

You bandy the word 'soft' at every opportunity to aspire to your sycophantic mates.

Just leave him alone - he's been dropped....you got your wish. Happy?

Interesting thread title: 'Ready for the kill'!

Shocked that we have brought in 4 supposed NQR players all at once. 2 maybe but 4!

Yep, ready to get slaughted.

What I wasn't ready for was my hopes for a good season being killed off.

This team is comprised of: walking wounded, has beens, non-tryers and talented newbies

The only experienced players who have been valuable each week are McDonald, Garlett, Salem and maybe Vince

Shocked that this is the best we can put up against the reigning premiers

Shocked that this is what our team amounts to after 6 games.

Can't bear to watch the carnage tomorrow.

The ins and outs is pure deck chair shuffling - as ever, our best dozen players will decide how well we do.

And, contrary to popular belief amongst fans, being dropped is not the end of the world, or a career, it's what happens to players out of form, out of confidence, out of sorts, or all of the above.

All true rpfc. The problem is 9 of our best dozen just haven't fired a shot most of the season and right now I have little faith they will.

Cameo's here and there maybe but not AFL standard football week in week out.

This shouldn't be left up to our talented 'newbies'.

Yes, I am aware of the lack of form and consistency with N.Jones, Tyson, Dawes, Vince, Lumumba, Dunn, Garland, and Howe has hurt us.

If we are to go close they will have to join McDonald, Cross, Garlett, and Hogan with a consistent effort and by playing their role well.

Another issue is that only 4 of the dozen above are mids and another two 'move through' the midfield.

If the form of the team holds for the rest of the year - Brayshaw and Vandenberg will be mids 5 and 6 in the list above but it will mean our senior players have stagnated again, and the rebuild will be pushed out again...

This could will be ugly.

In short we have too many key outs (Jetta, Kent, Viney, JKH) against a team that is vastly superior to us.

Happy to see Matt Jones return though - reckon he will add some speed around the contest and play a role tomorrow.

I think we are singing from the same song book, rpfc.

I just hope the coaches haven't run out of ideas on how to get the senior players to pull their weight. They are the ones letting the team down atmo.

The biggest shock to me is not the squad but that we're playing at the MCG at 2.10 pm on a Saturday.

We need a big crowd plus a quality team performance to encourage the AFL to give us more of these premium timeslots.

It would be a huge setback if (a) the supporters don't turn up and (b) the team doesn't.

To all those posters who have said they won't be coming because of the team selection, to borrow a term used elsewhere in this thread...you've got pea hearts. Get there and support your team. Not just for tomorrow but to send a bigger message. If the supporters don't turn up, why should we expect the players to?

Robbie Flower's hero John Lord played in the Reserves from time to time. Didn't seem to mean much to Robbie.

Yes that is it HT separate till the Hawks start to slide. Oh hold on we could be separated for the next 10 to 15 seasons! I expect Hodge and Mitchell to be still going around by then.

It's not all bad...in the meantime you could pursue Lady Penelope.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
