Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Melksham should have demanded actual proof, of the legality of the drugs he was being injected with. His fault, and we are about to pay the price.

I'll be calling for Goodwins head on a plate.

That's a balanced take on things. Let's not take a calculated risk because it might go wrong. FMD, I hope the footy dept has a stronger stomach for the business than you show.

Personally I don't think it was a calculated risk 'timD', I think it was a stupid one but time will tell.

IMHO It doesn't look ideal for Goodwin but I doubt he will get caught up in any fall out from the CAS Hearing. My reasoning is that;

1. Goodwin admitted to the AFL and ASADA that he was given Hexarelin and other supplements from Dank along with 5 other EFC staffers.  Hexarelin is banned under WADA for players but not for Staff and support people its. If this was evidence of an ADV against Goodwin he would have been in trouble by now. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/bomber-five-admit-dank-drugs-link-20130510-2jdqc.html

2. The AFL in their notice of charges against Essendon named staff whom they believed their conduct brought the game into disrepute those being Robson, Hird, Thompson, Corcoran, Reid, Hamilton, Robinson and Dank. I believe if he had a more involvement in the ADV or the running of the program it would have come out in this report. http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL Tenant/AFL/Files/EssendonFC-notice-of-charges.pdf

I'll never cease to be amazed at how Demonland thought Caroline Wilson made something out nothing when it came to our 'tanking' story but is a gospel to be believed on this matter.

Unfortunately her very first sentence adds to the confusion. Does she mean to say that the players didn't mention the injections? Or didn't mention Thymosin? If she meant the Thymosin, rather than the injections, then it is still possible that what 'troubled' the CAS members was the behaviour of Dank, and by extension, the club, by injecting the players something they did not know about.

Nevertheless, Caro should be given credit for accessing information that no-one else in the media seems to have been able to find.

You have to work hard to find ambiguity in those words IMO, especially given what follows.

And yes, there is a natural tendency for Demonlanders to believe worse of other clubs than ours, but the major difference with the tanking was that it 'was something out of nothing' especially if you add the word 'unusual' after 'nothing'.

All the more reason to give Caro credit for putting it out there.

She would definitely have told Gil the story was going to print.  'No surprises' is rule # 1.

He may or may not have asked her to reconsider.    Either way she published!

You seem to forget that one of the main objections some had about her at the time was not so much for her reporting of fact but for the way in which she blurred the line between fact and opinion so that her journalism on the so-called "tanking saga" became editorial dressed up as reporting of fact.

Hence, for example, an anonymous person's observation that Cameron Schwab appeared "ashen faced" when Melbourne won its second game of the season was somehow conclusive proof of "tanking" or when Chris Connolly stuck his head into a meeting for 30 seconds in the "vault" and joked about it, she dramatised the meeting into something it was not. We now know of course, that her source for the latter was a disgruntled former employee with an axe to grind against her club. Nevertheless, we're still free to draw our own conclusions.

In her latest report on the Essendon saga, she's telling a narrative about evidence given by players at the CAS hearing.

Whilst I agree there isn't enough context given about the evidence and how it was introduced, it hasn't been contested anywhere that the players gave evidence on the question of their knowledge, that the judges were "troubled" by what they heard or that separate tests on two Bomber players found heightened levels of TB4 (which is in fact old news).

Whether that's enough to create comfortable satisfaction as to the player's guilt remains to be seen but it doesn't mean by accepting Wilson's reporting of what she was told about some aspects of the CAS hearing, that people necessarily should accept her methods and the way she conducted her inquisition into what happened at Melbourne.

I have always said "Guilty as charged" from day 1.

The thing I am annoyed about is the club failing on their due diligence in recruiting any player from a club that is under investigation from WADA. It's bad enough if you go after an elite player and get stung. But to go after a fringe player just amazes me. I thought that the club was changing the culture from top to bottom.

This could put us back 3 years, not because of losing a fringe player, but all the good work with sponsors could be undone. They will probably have been spruiking we are the "New Melbourne" only to unravel it by an Old Melbourne decision.

How Stupid can you get.

Barn one would assume with the people that are in charge at MFC due diligence was carried out. With whom and how much we don't know but some questions were definitely asked of Goodwin, one would assume the AFL and potentially Milky as well.

How diligent though, really.

Any  of a number here can see the plain folly of it all.  Is irrelevant  as to anything  the AFL thinks or promises as they aren't  the deciders.

Quite frankly I'm rather dismayed and my impression of the collected acumen if the club has dropped several notches.

There can be no excuses. We ALL knew ffs.

And what would they really know at the time?

Answering in hope was the best they could do.

"Nobody knew what was in those injections did they..."

It's like, just when you think we're on the right track we recruit a future head coach and a mediocre player from the one club out of the 18 others that all sensibility should have told you to steer well clea of! What a massive shot to the confidence of the faith in the new improved culture we were cultivating.

It troubles me how a group of fanboys and fan girls on a supporters forum, who by the club's admissions shouldn't be listened to/taken seriously can see this, but those professionals paid handsomely my the club to make informed decisions can not. I hope Jake bloody Milkman and cowboy Goodwin are taken out for this and the club get a little lesson in risk management.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
