Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS

Gerard is one of the only voices of reason in this saga. His opening salvo of "The adults have turned up" is very telling. Nothing the AFL boys club can do with WADA involved.

Would not give a Fat Rat's Clacker if this Club went Bust, Personal relationships Destroyed, Lawsuits and counter lawsuits prevailed, Saga drags on and on,.........

Provided Real truth and justice is mettered out "So Be It"

Can't see a tv interview being made admissible.

You've obviously never watched Judge Judy then.

It's like the jury system but with ads.

Loved when Gerard said 'but you don't and you can't prove it because if you could have you would have' when Hird said the players didn't take anything illegal.

Smacked him in the face with the cloud that will hang over him for the rest of his life. Ouch.

Did Robbo look blank thinking this was a riddle and would have to do mental gymnastics to decipher it :o

Slobbo interviewing Hird is throw up worthy. Scripted rubbish.

Both constantly using the "think of the players" card.

As much as I dislike Slobbo, Hird is the worst.

There's no doubt that an illegal supplement / injection regime of some sort was being conducted. Why didn't Hird have any concerns for the players welfare, health and safety then?

Because he clearly stated at the time that black ops, whatever happened and whatever was done to the players, was within all rules and regs. He feels that was enough...

And what makes it worse he is 100% confident they will get found "not-guilty" again.

He believes it's just a process.

The comparisons to Armstrong are a good one. He actually believes his own lies now.

The lies just get too big, ie the money is to much to lose know.

Loved it when Hird was saying "not guilty" and Whateley was saying, "no, that was not even considered"

Hird actually thought they were cleared of not guilty of taking drugs.

Loved that as well.

Wheatley clarified that the trial never actually made it that far.

Hird's face was priceless.

Whateley asking some decent questions to Hird on 360 and Hird's true colours are bursting to come out.

I was surprised at how well Whateley handled the interview and how he pulled Hird up on his call that they players were innocent.

A few random things to note that will have an impact on the CAS hearing:-

* the Workcover investigation could throw some light on the nature of the substance ingested by the players. Hird claims it was "thymodulin" or something labelled as such. The Tribunal found that it was not that at all - it was either TB4 or something else but it couldn't be comfortably satisfied as to which of them.

* Dank has appealed the AFL Tribunal's verdict against him. If he follows the appeal through he's going to have to give some evidence and be subjected to cross examination.

* the appeal involves reopening the case and a rehearing of the matter. WADA will therefore have the benefit of knowing what factors caused the AFL Tribunal to come to its conclusions and refocusing the direction of its presentation to the Court.

I wouldnt be so quick to cal lthat aspect. Theres a lot of ignorant folk out there, either by way of poor information or inability to see clearly and comprehend ( much just not limitied to this event either )

I agree bb ... maybe not all ignorant though.

The extreme love of the game coupled with a pro Essendon media lends itself to wanting the whole thing to just go away. The convincing lies coming out of Essendon has influence too ... the good news is that won't matter a fig now that the whole thing is in the hands of the CAS.

We will hopefully now see transparency, fairness & justice. I only hope it is an open hearing so we can finally hear all the nitty gritty details.

Justin Quill (the lawyer) was on SEN tonight and he had some very interesting things to say - hopefully SEN post the segment up soon but he did indicate that the CAS may still be able to subpoena witnesses via the supreme court. He also indicated that the last minute appeal was no surprise to him at all as that sort of thing happens quite frequently with appeals.

Only the lodgement appeared last minute. Fun and games afoot....like CAS " accidently " releasing the 34 names....... then redacting !!! funny funny !! Hird and Co are now the Hunted !!!

The AFL"s support policy is now officially on a knife edge.

If they support the bombers it could cost them millions.

If they support WADA it could cost them millions and their jobs.

If they don't support anybody it could cost them millions their jobs and the Game.

.....and what's worse is it's their own fault.

Not quite. But WADA may be angry enough to call in the 'if 2 are guilty the whole team is out' rule. How this applies 3 years down the track when some of 'that team' are now at different clubs and half of 'that team' are new, who knows.

It is a lot easier to prove 2 rather than 34. This may have been a flaw in ASADA's approach altho not enough info in the public domain to know whether ASADA prosecuted their case on 2 players or all 34.

Does that meant Bummers and Port are stuffed lol?

Again this line of "the game" doesn't fly. It is no longer a game, it is a business. BIG business. The game (AFL) has been trying to brush it under the carpet. The game will go on, in some form, long after the final outcome is finally decided. A tiny blip in history and no one in the future will care of it as much as we do now. Over blown significance in our own time.

So Gerard's seen the error of his meanderings off the straight and narrow ??

Havent see the show so thanks for updates people. I wonder if Hird will even see his way to that wonder "oh FCUK moment" of realisation !!

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
