While I wouldn't say Clarko did the right thing, his reaction was reasonable given the circumstances. The vagrants who harassed him should be the ones answering for their actions and not Clarko.

Redleg - the point is Clarkson didn't hit him and I think his response was appropriate. I think a light shove is proportionate and warranted given the circumstances. As a society we should be questioning why a group of drunken adults are harassing a person for no valid reason, not whether a light shove could cause personal injury.

I don't want to be seen as an apologist for hoons. Their behaviour started the incident no doubt.

However the issue was whether the response was appropriate. Some on here advocated knocking the bloke out and saw no problem with that. I disagree with that and incidentally, so does the law.

It was reported that Clarkson punched the guy in the neck and grabbed his throat.

I then saw the vision and that appeared to be the case.

The version now seems to be he only pushed him away. If that is all that he did then that is fine.

I was arguing against punching the bloke and even knocking him out, as some advocated.

1 The AFL need to ensure spectators do not go anywhere near coaches at any stage!

2 He has shown himself before to be not able to control himself when things are not going his way!

He needs to be beyond that as a role model he owes it to himself, his club and the league!

Which goes to show the quality of commercial news in this country - over 2000 people have died in an earthquake overnight and we have the Clarkson story leading our news bulletin? Terrible "journalism" on the actual story - they interviewed to a mum who had her son killed by a king hit. There's no way Clarkson's action was anything like a king hit and for Channel 7 to suggest otherwise is a disgrace.

Fair call Redleg - I agree that punching the guy or grabbing him by the throat would have been reckless. A light shove says back off, anything more is really only escalating the situation and risking injury. I thought Clarkson was reasonably measured.

Look we all know that Clarko has a bit of a short temper, but you just lost, just wanted to get back to the hotel room and from what Chris Fagan said they followed them over the bridge and kept hassling Clarko for a photo even when he had politely declined. Fagan said the phone was already set to the camera so they were looking to stitch him up big time.

Whats worse then they sent it to every media outlet.
