Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan

The articles are based on the premise that Pavlich is keeping the seat (& his salary) warm until the end of 2017 however also points out that why would Hogan go home to a rebuilding Club. I would just dismiss it out of hand, particularly as by then he will have had two enjoyable seasons playing alongside Petracca!

Neale would be good.

Anyway, the players that have signed recently, they're out of contract, no? Pretty sure they're in a position to sign now and can't risk waiting for the CBA. They might end up uncontracted while the players potentially strike.

If Hogan puts off contract talks "until the end of the season" at this time next year, he's gone.

At this stage, it is ludicrous to really even contemplate this.

But I do think he should just sign and get on with it. This is going to carry on for the next 18 months (hopefully only the next 12).

I think this can be an easy thing to overlook too, something I did earlier in the season.  These guys who are re-signing are in the last year of their deals, and we all know Hogan isn't in the same position.

i was called a troll the other day for thinking he was gone . i cant see how you could see it any other way.

Your gut feeling  (and that's all it is) has as much weight as my gut feeling that thinks he'll stay.  Neither is worth more than the other.

The only difference is that you'll say it ten times more than me.  It doesn't matter how often you say it.  It still won't carry any more weight.

Clearly his poor form to start the season has been synchronised with Fremantle's poor form. His psyche is already there. Frankly I wish Ross Lyon would coach him a bit better, he's ruining his development.

I still think it is most likely that Hogan is staying, and I still think he's going to be a gun, and I still think the wailing from the likes of Lloyd (who had just one really good game in his second season, by the way) is a really impressive storm in a teacup.

Still, a bit of poor form might take 100k off his next contract, all good.

No wonder he is struggling on field.  Just look at the scrutiny the poor bloke cops.  He still has 44 more games to play before his contract is up and he's already copping it.

We've got short memories too.  Everyone, even Jesse himself, have said that he loves it in Melbourne and has no real interest in going home.  Yet we believe journo's instead.  I know the Scully fiasco has tainted our thinking here, but we need to get behind the big fella and trust in the club to get things done.

We'll be right.

this is the problem , he will never be left alone till he re signs , the media will hound him , it will effect his game as we see. Sadly you are right Scully has made us think this way, we will always believe he is going ,thats the melbourne way .....  its changing but slowly. Players will want to stay , they will want to come

Puts an interesting spin on us trading away a future round 1 pick last year (especially seeing we took Weed)...

I don't think that really means anything, we take a KPP every year, problem is that in the period we've had a top 10 pick there haven't been many KPP in that range, they've generally been in the 20-30 range.

I would think If we finish 12th or below this year, I'll be mightily [censored].

It's more our eagerness to trade away that future first round pick that makes me wonder I guess.

I don't buy in to the rumours about Hogan, BUT if the worst case scenario did happen then that trading for Weed would point to us knowing about it as early as last year.

the club wanted two more first round picks, was really keen on Weiderman a long way before the draft and expects to rise up the ladder quite a bit this year, to me it was a logical decision, the pressure is now on, if we finish bottom 4 we still come out of it okay because imo both Weiderman and oliver look like 200 game players for the club

More or less, yeah, but we'd have ended up with a higher pick this year to potentially get a better player than Weiderman, so it's a massive risk that really falls down to the club finishing in the 5th-12th range. It would be hard to swallow if the club doesn't improve, finished 18th-14th and has passed up a top 5 pick.

Pressure is on everyone right now. The football department is put a lot of faith in itself to deliver with that choice. I like our draft choices but we'll be a laughing stock if we crash and burn and miss out on a pick 3 or pick 4 or pick 5.

Yep, I agree with that, but what I'm saying is IF Hogan asks for a trade this year (worst case scenario) then it certainly changes the context of that decision.

Definitely, but i think the free'd up money would go straight towards someone like Michael Hurley and we'd have a couple of good picks or a good player and picks as well, so while it would be disappointing i don't think it'd be as bad as some people are suggesting.

I rate Weiderman extremely highly, he might well end up being as good as Hogan, Daniher and co anyway

Its simple he says that hogan has signed elsewhere and then if hogan eventually leaves then he is a genius who picked it miles out. And if he doesnt leave? well he was wrong and the article is so old everyone forgets and life moves on. As far as accurate pffft no but its a play for later success.

Very interested to hear that Wayne Carey will spend some time with Jesse Hogan over the coming weeks. I believe Goodwin is behind it and its very much a Football mentoring role.. some instructional work.. forward line movement. I think its a good move, a bit unlike Melbourne, but its Goodwin again on the front foot.

Good to hear, but hasn't this already happened before? Or maybe it was just a coffee/lunch once.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
