so you're suggesting you'd be calling Nathan Jones a [censored] if he tweeted that

you're a liar

I would, Cripps is a worthy winner.

But let's face it, Jones wouldn't. Not on Twitter, and that's the difference.

But I must be wrong cos you are already calling me a liar cos you are the almighty knower of all.

Hail, hail, hail.

Can you please tell me what I want for dinner tonight.

Just enjoy Hogan's win. Why do you care so much about looking out for Bryce Gibbs?

I'm not sure why there's such angst out there. Carlton supporters should have a look at the 2003 Rising Star result. Nick Reiwoldt won with Chris Judd runner up. St Kilda supporters have been very happy with Reiwoldt and West Coast/Carlton have been equally pleased with Judd. There's room out there for both Hogan and Cripps to be superstars. I look forward to watching them both play for years to come.

If cripps had won and <insert senior melbourne player> had made a tweet like that you'd all be saying was a legend he is for standing up for the truth and supporting his mate and blahblahblah

No we wouldn't, we'd be saying he's a [censored] and shouldn't air his stupid opinions in public.

Blues....Classy !!!

Congratulations to Hogan. What a star and I cannot wait to see our forward line next year with Petracca playing across half forward. If the hype for Petracca is true then he would be well placed to win the award next year.

Bryce Gibbs is a [censored]. Who gives a [censored] what he thinks

And it's not as if Cripps finished the season completely empty handed...

Big, bad bustling Barry said it took him 4 (I think) years to feel comfortable playing as a key forward. Cam said it wasn't till he was 26. They can't believe how Jesse has done it in his first year. Better than Carey at the same time. Has a huge presence

It will be interesting to see how they both go next year. Second year players often drop off a bit but I can't see Jesse being one. He already took the oppositions best defender and was often double teamed. So there's not much more they can throw at him. Plus he'll be even bigger. Cripps on the other hand will get tagged from the get go and will find it harder. Much like rich

They just reported on sunrise that Jesse Hogan has declared he wants to be a one club player.

That's nice....i remember Woey saying the same thing on a marketing snippet after he won the Brownlow. We then sold him up the river to the Pies a few years later.

A lengthy contract extension would be better than any talk.

Posted

This was his second year...which means next year he's going to be truly awesome.

I was thinking 2nd year - on the park! Given he hardly played a game in his 1st.

Let's hope you are correct LD

Hogan would look at a player like that with contempt no doubt.

I very much doubt that. Why does Watts even get a mention in this thread. Amazing. This might inspire him, and others in the team, to reach greater heights.

When we stop losing to them, even as wooden spooners, they probably won't have as much to say LD

AFL 360 from last night, with Jesse interviewed

Super stuff thx HH

Apparently McCarthy from GWS has asked to be traded back to WA. Here is hoping Freo take him and leave Jesse alone.

LEAVE JESSE ALONE!!!

So just watched the short highlights package on the club website, something that really strikes me about him is that he is always quick to acknowledge when one of his teammates has worked hard to provide him with the opportunities for goals. Maybe I'm reading a lot into it but to me it shows a camaraderie with him and his teammates, hopefully this idea that the young core of this club are truly in it together.

Thanks for posting the 360 interview. He speaks well and has a great attitude to his football. I particularly liked when he said he didn't buy in to comparisons to other greats of the game; that he wanted to build his own brand as a player. Love it!

As an aside, I am amazed at how thoroughly boozed Robbo was. He has the close-talking-embarrassing-drunk-uncle shtick down.

Not only that he kept on making references to getting hammered. Must have been at least 5.

He also said harmes played well on Friday night. Only two days out.

The hilarious part actually was that he broke the bombers going to Adelaide story but didn't realise why ie that they had broken a commitment to ask other clubs first before talking to assistant coaches. He was clueless. Probably thought he was doing a solid for efc when in fact he put them right in it. His only genuine story and it was a mistake. He did a Homer. Gold

Did Gibbs hire you to protect him from shadows or something? Chill the [censored] out.

The truth? There's no truth to the result being a joke, at all. It's down right disrespectful to Hogan is what it is.

The truth is the best young forward in forever beat a very good young midfielder. Gibbs is [censored] that couldn't crush his own sour grapes.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
