9/10 judges giving him 5 votes. Worthy winner. Congrats Jesse.

'Shifter' Sheehan the only judge awarding Cripps 5 votes.

Just as well he is not working in the young talent and development area of the AFL???

And it might be appropriate to just quietly thank Mark Neeld for getting Hogan to the club.

Bull dust

I could have made that decision

You can thank the greedy Scully clan for that!

I think I can be overlooked how well the MFC has developed Jesse via the VFL in 2013 and then rehabilitated Jesse in 2014 after his back issues.

Well done to all the crew at the club who've go this colt firing!

And well done Jesse!

The arrogant way he struts around the football field is a sight to behold! He knows he can't be beaten if he's given an even run at it. Has the same aura as Carey, Brown and Brereton.

Like a roided-up peacock.

I thought Jesse spoke really well in the SEN interview after the official celebrations.

Some things he mentioned:-

- when he was struggling early this year Goodwin told him to take a few days off and go surfing at Torquay.

Goodwin seems really in tune with the players.

- he likes that we have a good core group of players who go hard at the ball and we will get more.

- he gave Jack V the nod as the next captain!

- he was really looking forward to playing with that core group over the coming years.

(I took that as he will sign an extension ;))

BTW, he picked the trifecta! In an interview about a month ago he said he thought the 3 favourites were Cripps, Sheed and himself! He wanted one of the 3 to win because they were all from WA!!

Well done, Jesse.

The year has ended on a high!

Watch what you say, WADA might be watching and we don't want any rumours to start.

so what does he get for it?

an onkaparinga cardigan or what?

$20,000 investment portfolio...... which he can add to with his millions he will be earning over the next 10 years

It was good to hear this

I'm sure a lot of the Gold Coast and GWS players have said similar things about building together as a young group. But I think there is a better understand on what needs to happen next at Melbourne and I think the young playing group are buying in.

My favourite line is when asked about getting along with other young players at Melbourne he states, "we all have that competitive edge", I believe he's referring to Brayshaw, Petracca, ANB and Harmes. He talks about liking playing with Brayshaw because he "puts his head over the pill". If Melbourne can continue to surround Hogan with hard edge players like the young group we have, and of course players that will deliver the ball with more precision and efficiency into the forward line, then there is hope that we can keep this gem of a forward.

Now we just need to sign him on. Preferably longer then 2 more years where he will be 22. gulp...

"I can't say (if I will ever move back to play in WA)," he said. "Obviously I am enjoying my time here and the list we are obviously growing is going to be pretty unbelievable I think. It is pretty obvious and I think in a couple of years we are going to be a pretty good side. I can't be certain but at the moment I am very happy where I am and enjoying my football." Hogan

I hope we can improve a little bit quicker over the next "couple of years"

Well that certainly puts a dampener on things. He could have at least lied to us.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits.
