Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We're one bad performance from wanting Prestia again.

While we need a key defender and an outside mid we can also do with a class ball magnet like Prestia.  We're not restricted to targeting just one player in the off season.

Prestia is coming back from injury.  He'll be better next year.

Particularly playing for a club he feels has a heart. I think he wanted to come home last year. He should have. Has he missed his chance? Time will tell, but I reckon the club wouldn't be stupid enough to pass him up if he's a chance.

"Small forward" ?  Of course he's not a small forward.  He's a gun mid.

A quality mid doesn't fit Roos/Goodwin's "prototype" ?  Sure.

And he's not just "inside".  He's fast with a booming kick.  What you're seeing now isn't indicative of Prestia as a player.  Don't Melbourne supporters watch players from other clubs ?

I agree we have other needs, but I'd suggest the club wouldn't knock back someone of Prestia's quality and we're still not exactly a destination club, so I'm not sure who some of you are referring to.

I'm a little perplexed. How can anyone say Prestia is purely an inside mid? He's quick and certainly has the ability to get it on the outside. Averages 28 disposals at his best. If the club thinks his body is going to stand up, he's a no-brainer.

Hurls on all fronts.

But I'd like both.

Exactly. We get Hurley and Prestia, improve our defensive systems and we make the top 4 next year.

RE: filling needs - I'll trust our FD to work something out if Hurley and Prestia were keen on making the switch.

read that us and richmond are the front runners for Jaeger. Interesting times.

Why would Jaeger want to go to Richmond? Surely he's more likely to want to go to a top 8 team. That won't be Richmond. Can't see it being Collingwood either.

He's a really interesting one, even more so than Prestia, because he's missed so much football. At least Prestia has played 80+ games, while O'Meara has only managed 44. It's really hard to judge his worth as a result. Given he was a top pick, I can't see the Suns giving him up cheaply. Particularly, if he's still in their plans.

Given a choice I would take Jaeger over Prestia for theMFC.

Greater risk but could take our midfield into never seen before realms at the mfc.

Would want to have a very long look at O'meara's medical report before recruiting him.

That's why we're letting Richmond look at him first.

Seriously, though I don't think we can get him, we are making a big play for Hurley. He will cost plenty but no picks, as he will be a FA.

Prestia will also want a heavy pay packet and will cost picks, players or both. Jesse will want plenty and we have others who also want a pay rise.

Would you prefer Prestia or Hurley based on ability, needs and cost?

Are we really? Honestly, I just thought we were simply one of many sniffing around.

Throw our coin at Hurley! Omeara's injuries are of concern and we have enough hard nuts

There will be other defenders with 1 year left to run who may also be interested in leaving. You don't have to wait for FA anymore. Clubs will deal when a player says he wants to go.

Imagine our midfield if O'meara comes back to full fitness (and we actually get him). Would probably become the best player Melbourne have had in years.

That is what Geelong thought when they took Clark.

But we don't have a 1st rounder to trade this year, which makes Hurley's FA more appealing.

Can we? I read somewhere that you can't trade them 2 years in a row. I'm pretty sure it was a supporter comment somewhere though, been wondering if it's true or not.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
