Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Was listening to Triple M just before and Brian Taylor who knows the Prestia's said that he will be definitely coming home for sure. Didn't mention any club but found that interesting.

Now my question is would Prestia still be on our wish list? Why i say that is our abundance of inside mids now with Oliver emerging. I have been a huge advocate on getting him across but i just feel an outside class midfielder would be more of a need. Someone like a Josh Kelly would be more priority personally for me.

Correct we have a lot of grunt

Short answer... yes. You don't say no to A grade midfielders. You just don't.

Viney, Oliver, Brayshaw, Jones, Tyson, Prestia and Petracca. We have improved our depth remarkably in a very short time, but we still have nothing on GCS, GWS, Hawthorn, Sydney or even the Bulldogs. Further, Prestia can play outside or inside. His height goes against him a little bit, but he is a ball magnet. I've wanted him pretty much since his first season and that still hasn't changed. Still managed a goal and 29 touches against Essendon yesterday, first game back from a long-term injury. He was pretty rusty, but still can't help finding a stack load of the ball and a lot of it contested.

Would love Kelly though too.

I heard one media report during the week that Hawthorn and Richmond are the frontrunners with Gold Coast confident he will stay.

He'll come to the MFC I reckon. $500k a year should be fine. Even $450k might get the job done.

Would have him in a heartbeat (assuming his body is ok). Pure class A grade mid. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, we still lack experienced high end mids. Quick, inside, hard, great skills, good tank, leadership.... very little not to like.

Though not the same role, I'd have him above Tyson, Harmes, Stretch, Kennedy, M Jones, Grimes and even Vince. And very few of what's left is as proven as Prestia

It's staggering how many people seem to have the memory of a goldfish. Since last year, all we've added to the midfield is Oliver, Kennedy and Bugg. Okay, Viney seems to have taken another step over pre season, but if we think our midfield is set up now, we're going nowhere. We will not be able to compete with the aforementioned teams in years to come unless we continue to strengthen our midfield.

Absolutely. Prestia would probably be our best mid if he was on the 2016 MFC list. Certainly top 3.

Yep. Which speaks volumes.

And Oliver is already our go to extractor, along with Viney.

GNF, I hope your intel is more accurate on this topic than it was with those 2014 trade period riddles which never eventuated.

Dangerfield to Geelong was the worst kept secret in the AFL. He was never staying at Adelaide.

Wait, is it October already?

...

Anyway, I'd like to hope GNF is right. Has been maybe 50% spot on the money well before anyone else, and 50% way off.

There's no doubt if Prestia wanted to come to Melbourne we should take him. Midfield depth wins premierships (also, running N Jones off half-back in the fourth quarter was really good and I would like us to do that more during games, meaning we need another inside midfielder anyway).

So why didn't he ask to come to Melbourne last trade period, if it's been his intention all along? Not wanting to look like a Cam McCarthy? The Howe deal falling through? Not wanting the MFC to pay overs to get him?

Personally I just think he wants to see which team looks the most promising by the end of this year, and I don't blame him. But if he's been planning to come here all along, why waste an entire year at the Suns?

So he fulfils his contract and then gets to wait and see that we progress as a team. I'm sure his manager would have advised him of this.

He also has a little more leverage of manoeuvring a trade to his preferred club when he's out of contract.

Come home to the spiritual home of AFL football.  The MFC needs you to push into the finals and can see you being there at the MCG when we push back to the top.

A 5 year deal at $450,00/year is the offer.

Join Jonesy, Vince, Viney, Tyson, Brayshaw, Petracca, Oliver in our new top flight midfield.

Would have thought he would have been moved at last year's trade period. I just hope if he is Vic bound we don't have to queue up behind your Collingwoods and Hawthorn's of the world.

Would love a star to nominate us as a destination for a change.

Speaking of Collingwood, this season will be fascinating. How will they respond to the Sydney thumping? If they really struggle this year, they won't be in the hunt for anyone.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
