An article about GCS OOC players.  . http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-season-2016-david-swallow-keen-for-a-longterm-deal-say-gold-coast-suns-20160621-gpod3i.html#ixzz4CC8iSusG  The article says both Swallow and O'Meara have been unhappy about the medical advice and rehab respectively.  Tough situation for talented young guys trying to make it in the AFL. Motivation to leave?

On Prestia it says:  "Prestia, averaging more than 26 disposals in 11 matches, met with his manager Marty Pask last week, with money not the primary concern over a new deal. He has been linked to Melbourne, Richmond and Carlton"

I find that encouraging because of the three clubs we offer the best prospects, if he decides to leave GCS!

I suppose it comes down to what he's looking for in a new club.  Playing list?  Yes, hands down.

However if his main reason for wanting to leave Gold Coast is their medical/rehab team and their handling of his injuries, I'm not sure where we stand in the league for these facilities and staff...

Out of interest, what is the one trait that separates Sloane from Jones?

Is hair a trait?

As others have mentioned....its not ALL about the playing list. Facilities come into that as well. I think we would be behind both Richmond and Carlton on that score. Still....we must at least be thereabouts.

It's a fair mane. He's got Jonesy comfortably covered there.

The only other trait Sloane could be considered elite in is "significant other". Belinda Riverso. She could riversonto me any time.

We're not at the Junction Oval anymore. AAMI Park  stands up very well to anything Princess Park or Punt Road has to offer.

Sounds like he knows what he's talking about, reiterated when he stated Richmond and Collongwood had overrated their list.

He's still the bloke who kicked us out of an '87 GF berth.

If you go to the one v one feature on the AFL app and do Jack Viney vs Dion Prestia it's amazing how similar they are as players, most of their stats are very close with Dion just ahead in a few areas.

Those who aren't interested in Prestia, would you say no to Viney as well? Both are leaders too. Prestia being the VC of the Suns...

Being a slow night, I read the crapola on the AFL site about who's chasing who in the trade caper for next year. Nick Bowen was the 'expert,' and therefore must be the understudy to 'guru' Callum Twomy.

Anyway the gist of it was (i.e., rumour mongering), we are into Prestia (along with Richmond, not so much Carlton) and Hibberd. The only mention of Hurley was that he would either be at Essendon or an interstate club :( .

There is interest in Jetta (one other Vic Club and presumed WA club/s), T-Mac (Sydney) and Watts which might explain the contract delays. All expected to stay at Melb. No mention of Hogan (praise the lord)

Prestia is an A grade mid. MFC should do what it takes (4 year contract at a minimum).

Happy to have anyone who improves us, although Prestia is probably too similar to Jones and Viney for my liking, but he's not presently A-grade.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
