What if we're actually in the finals under Paul Roos?

If only! I don't think there's much doubt the Suns are a couple of years in advance of us. Unfortunately that will become very clear on Saturday

It would be bloody hard to leave the GC when they're on the up and coming quickly. I just cant see it

Gold Coast arent guaranteed to do anything great, sure they are loaded with potential but so are a bunch of other clubs.

GNF - the guy that told us we offered two picks for Dangerfield and that Jake Lever was a lock at pick 3?

To be fair as well, he was the guy who said in no uncertain terms that Neeld had gotten the entire playing group off side and needed to go. He was also the guy who said that Paul Roos was a certainty to sign on.

Cue Prestia coming out and tearing the game apart on Saturday!

He's a jet. Plays just like Jonesy. Wins it in close then bursts in to space and uses it well.

But I don't really love these rumours, especially at this time of year. Not sure Garry Lyon has done anyone any favours.

When has he us any favours?

no guarentees ever but to me they have the best young list by far in the comp. quality all over the park with heaps of speed, skill and hardness - key fwds, depth in the midfield etc. from next year they will be in the top 4 for most of the next 5-6 years IMO. (if not starting this year)

You didn't watch many of their games last year then I take it?

Won't happen. Hawks have him stitched up *if* he comes to Melbourne. They'll have the cap space and a few players retiring and no one will be able to match it.

I don't know but maybe we did offer 2 picks for Danger and maybe Lever was in the picture up to the point when it became clear McCartin would go at 1 and Petracca would be available.

Yes I did

And its now 2015 and a new season so its irrelevant

Right on. Hawthorn's as much a chance for the spoon as anyone this year. Last year is irrevelant.

The long and short of it is that Gary Lyon has never done us any favours. He always picks against us in the celebrity footy tipping, demonstrating that his desire to look good in the tipping is more important to him than appearing to support our young players. You never see Eddie Maguire tip against Collinwood (not ever)!

Not intentionally. That presser declaration that Didak wasn't in the car with Shaw was hilarious!

Given that Prestia is in the core of GC midfield, it would take a massive offer to prize him away.

IMO our money would be best directed at a GWS midfielder not getting an opportunity - but with probably more scope than Prestia.

I'd be looking to throw an extremely high offer at Josh Kelly, he has more scope than Prestia - and Kelly might be limited in opportunity.

2 players this year we should keep a close eye on are Kelly and Whitfield. If we have a war chest, then throw it at one of those.

GWS love Kelly.

Stupid comment, and if you are a true supporter you will admit that is a stupid comment, because he has done lots for this club, like many players..

His decisions of late gave been bad ones, but done with the right intentions.

They probably loved Boyd, Tyson and O'Rourke.

But money talks. Players want to be closer to home.

We should put a very big offer to Josh Kelly or Lachie Whitfield.

For what it's worth, I heard this from Sheedy himself. GWS was absolutely stoked to land Kelly.

He was also laughing at us trading Kelly for Tyson (not to forget Salem). Sheeeeeeds appears to have underestimated Tyson. Our conversation was about round 2 last year.

In fairness, he didn't say bad things about Tyson - just that Kelly is going to be a superstar.

Don't reckon GWS will be letting Kelly go anytime soon.

Yes you're right... they have probably got better with another pre season into their youth.

This is the guy that declared Scully the next Ablett jr.

I don't take Kev to seriously in his old age. Great coach back in his day.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
