This is such an obvious management statement that it is often overlooked or more often ignored in pursuit of singular or more extreme ideas.

I think most clubs do the same thing some are lucky, but at the end of the day, it comes down to the playing group to see the team win, you know everyone could all train as had as everyone else, all do the right thing, but at the end one team wins the comp and one is 18th, and do you know 1st and 18th might have laid the same foundation, you only hear from the successful clubs, lets look back at west coast between 2003to 2007 they knew both Kerr and cousins were on the gear, they both missed training and team meetings, but the club turned a blind eye, because winning is everything,

Lets take a case in point, hawthorn had two indigenous players not make it, and the club not really give them much support, when players at our club fail the same ways the club is blamed, but at hawthorn no one blames them, now I am not saying hawthorn did anything wrong, just how things are reported in the media, even the tanking saga, hawthorn tanked as much as anyone, but when they tanked clubs got pp from just one year of winning 5 games or less, and they did it for three year of 5 wins or less, so that's three years of pp, it's more about timing, they were doing it at a good time and when it was still new and everyone was not sick of it. So I say don't look at hawthorn and say if we do what they did good things will happen. Hawthorn through out there history have been in the right place at the right time, they enjoyed the best of the pp system we got it at the worst part of the pp, and was left holding the can, and blamed for the whole system, and that is plain bad luck and timing.
