To be fair, he offered his opinion when asked for it by Redleg. I don't see these comments as concerning himself with club politics.

I'd be super disappointed if we were to lose McCartney.

Same. But that's footy and the club just has to learn to deal with these things. The Cats and Hawks both lost assistant coaches during finals series and went on to win. A great club is bigger than any one individual!

Wonder who the club would look to get as a replacement for Macca should he be succesful over at Essendon?

Funnily enough Neil Craig would have to be a candidate wouldn't he, dependent on Goodwin's relationship with him?

Bombers look too far along with Worsfold and McKenna now to backtrack. Worsfold has committed by leaving the Crows. I think they are using McCartney and Burns as patsies, to appear as though there is a proper process going on.

I don't I think Worsfold has the job but those scrubbers at Essendon still want BM as his assistant.

You're super disappointed if we lose anyone. I can't recall seeing you ever say it was a good thing to see xyz go....

If we kept everyone we would be a mediocre side for many more years to come. When we lose players, assistant coaches etc it allows us to improve the side. That's what its all about.

CAse by case basis when you lose people, otherwise you run the risk of being super blasé...

I agree with your sentiment however it is misplaced in this instance - McCartney is clearly a leader in his field and would be a big loss if he were to leave. The same is not true for many of the players who have departed recently. Nor was it a view widely shared upon the departure of say, Brad Miller, from the coaching panel.

Yze was a blow. I think underrated in our memories because of his disappointing final year.

I would think Sanderson, he has a similar background in development working with McCartney at Geelong.

...having said that, I can't see McCartney leaving.

The sentimentalist in me would like Worsfold to stay at the Crows.

Now that Ess are after our Macca I have been jolted out of my sentimentality and desperately want Worsfold to coach Essendon!

I would just love the irony of The Pharmacist coaching EssUndone. How sweet. A bit like the irony of Chemist Warehouse ads on the boundary at their games.

Same. But that's footy and the club just has to learn to deal with these things. The Cats and Hawks both lost assistant coaches during finals series and went on to win. A great club is bigger than any one individual!

Collingwood fell from the finals series when we poached Neeld, as I recall. So he did give me some, all too brief, joy.

I remember him once saying he couldn't coach any club other than Adelaide, such was his love for the Camrys. Now he just seems to [censored] himself around these days as he desperately tries to remain in the industry.

I'll breathe a sigh of relief when Woosha is appointed. Until then, I'm nervous.

It would be difficult for the club to say anything at this stage which only adds to our collective nervousness.

People forget that Macca actually stepped down from the Senior Coach position at the Dogs whereas it's widely reported he was sacked. It would be (hypothetically) interesting to know how the Dogs would've performed under him this year given the plaudits he receives from most of his past players and coaches he's worked with.

That's what's disappointing me the most. His reputation in development is exemplary and which makes him a perfect fit at a crucial time for the MFC.

But, if he wants to have a the crack at a senior coach gig you can't begrudge a bloke of that.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
