Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Wonder if theres a player we really want at pick 3 that we are sure wont be there at 6?

If so we could possibly do Howe + pick 6 for pick 3 and their 2nd rounder

Was exactly my first thought; it's pretty clear Parish will be taken by Essendon at 4 or 5 (Carlisle pick).

Gold Coast gain Howe in exchange for a 3 pick downgrade of their first rounder and their second/third round pick. They already have pick 19 so I'm not sure they'll miss it much.

Totally agree, was thinking this today.

I hate North Melbourne.

I admire norf minnow club low supporter base yet always put there body's on the line and continually play final

Year after year.

I cannot see how Fremantle or Collingwood can trade with us for Howe unless they offer up a decent player. Both clubs by the sounds of it may have there 1st & 2nd Rnd draft picks for the next 2 yrs tied up in trades elsewhere therefore they will not be able to satisfy us with draft pick/s

Collingwood may tie Ben Kennedy in with a trade if that's where Howe wants to go. Freo might offer up someone such as Lachie Weller as well, but I see what you mean. A few clubs already have some good picks tied up in trades which makes it difficult.

latest on Howe from AFL website.

"The 25-year-old played his 100th game with Melbourne in the final round but he has played in just 22 wins since making his debut in round 11, 2011.

The Suns made a presentation to him last week and are understood to be very keen on him joining the fledgling club, with a role as a mobile forward alongside Tom Lynch likely to suit Howe.

They are also likely to be in a better position to get a deal done quickly with the Demons.

Melbourne hold pick No.6 and the Suns have pick No.3 and potentially pick No.10 if they trade Charlie Dixon to Port Adelaide. They might be able to shuffle picks in any deal involving Howe.

On Friday, Howe's manager Ben Niall indicated on trade radio Howe was more likely to leave the Demons than stay.

He is expected to make a decision when he returns from Bali this week."

...Wonder what they have in mind for the "shuffling of picks"?

Are they implying that it may be something like - Howe and pick 6 for pick 3? Or Howe and pick 25 for pick 10/19

I note his manager saying in the Hun that not many people realise Howe is an elite endurance athlete as well as a repeat sprinter of high order! Not sure I noticed that in games but at training I know he ticks nearly every box on mobility, ball handling, speed and aerial skill. And his manager says a major motivation is for Jeremy to find one position and play there. Well yes he has been moved around as we have searched for where he can play to his obvious strengths.

Has he ever played on the wing for an extended period? He has obvious Isaac Smith like abilities but I don't believe he has ever shown the willingness to work hard running both ways. He has at times looked bloody good at running forward on the wing, think of that incredible running with the flight of the ball mark over Embley at the Gee some years ago (degree of difficulty 9.98). And this year In the last game at Etihad i witnessed him run forward to the pocket and Brayshaw I think just loop up a pass in the air. Howe just launches himself vertically for the mark, the defender had no chance of getting a fist in there. And then he kicks the goal. He should be able to do that three times a game easily. These are all cameos of talent. For some reason he lacks the work ethic or the knowledge of how to do it, to be a consistent 20 to 25 possession outside runner who can kick goals. He learns that and he is worth his weight in picks. I would be happy for him to stay and we work on his potential. But if he goes so be it.

Howe wants to play forward. The coaches want him to play in defense.

He decides his opinion is worth more than the coaches.

End of story.

And you know what? I trust our coaches a hell of a lot more than Howe or his ass of a manager. I don't give a crap what abilities he apparently "possesses." On game day, he's lazy, doesn't gut run, doesn't understand our structures and has horrible body language. Worst of all, he so desperately wants to be a forward and can't stand Roosy playing him in defence, yet he kicked more behinds than goals this year. Stop drinking your own bathwater Jeremy.

That's my point which I think gives Melbourne a good starting point, however I think we should try and keep Kennedy separate to any Howe deal. If we can land a top 20 pick or Weller a top 20 pick from last year, I believe that will be a decent result for MFC

Collingwood getting involved isn't exactly good news; their picks for this and next year's drafts are well and truly tied up with Treloar and Aish.

It's not our problem if Collingwood cannot satisfy us with a suitable deal. They will have there priorities and if Howe is not one bad luck!! The more clubs vying for Howe's services the better

I still think Howe is GC bound. It seems they have chased him the hardest, and while others have shown some interest, GC seem to be the ones who have sustained it the longest.

Or maybe I'm just hoping it's GC Howe goes to as I think they can satisfy us the best in a trade.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
