Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

FAREWELL JEREMY HOWE

I'm a bit befuddled as to why so many people want Howe out. Seems to me whenever he plays well, we play well. Must have finished in our top 10 in the b&f over the past couple of years. Clearly his asking price is the issue. I'm a bit a flat about the whole thing

Because of we've learnt anything it's that there is no point keeping players who are only in it for the money or quick success

We plucked this guy from obscurity. He would be changing light globes today if not for us. Now he has the nerve to ask for more money than he's worth because he takes a specie once in a while?!

Commit or take a hike. This ongoing saga for an average player. What a joke.

I think you answered your own question. Can you list the games this year where Jeremy showed up?

It's a bit like Frawley. Great shutdown defender when he bothers to put in. Unfortunately for us, he spent about 17 rounds last year trying not to get injured while deciding on a new club.

Howe isn't really a defender, isn't really a forward, and certainly isn't a midfielder at the moment.

Personally I think he should be a dangerous tall midfielder, with the valuable bonuses of being able to take intercept marks as part of midfield defence or to drift forward and mess with match-up structures.

I think his main limitation at the moment is his inability to grasp that he isn't 'there' yet at a player. He clearly believes, perhaps with an irresponsible manager whispering in his ear, that he is already a star of the game and Melbourne aren't 'appreciating' him enough and that's the only reason he doesn't do better.

When the finger comes out, he could well be worth 650k a year, but right now it is hard to justify 400k.

this is what should have happened to him at the beginning of his career. he should have been made to work hard. he wasn't.

Yeah fair point but do you really think Frawley didn't put in as much last year as he did this year?

You could easily just as say that Frawley had a better year this year purely due to the fact that he was playing for the top team in the competition.

I would of have thought if the team improved next year so would of Howe's performances.

Anyway as a poster said before, he hasn't committed so f him.

Not true, he was on the radar of many clubs, would have definately been drafted if we didnt take him

Confused as to why we touched Garlett but we won't touch Bennell. Correct me if I am wrong but Garlett has been a raging success

Off field, Jeffy a family man who had made a mistake one night and was off side with current coach..

Harley is a raging bull kid who is just going to find trouble out on the town with the boys every time..

I'd still take the risk though, Bennell is a gun..

You're right. I forgot to bundle in Hogan to Essendon! I should send my CV to the club.

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and hope, nay pray, Barney was just playing along.

You threw out a bait waiting for the bite.

You got the bite, but come in spinner.

lol

Garlett went off the rails due to family issues. That has been resolved, Garlett is in a good place and there has been no more trouble.

Bennell is a pi55head.

Garlett hasn't turned up to recovery hammered (repeat offender)

Garlett didn't go on the turps until 5am before his medical with Melb

Etc, etc

Bennell has a problem he is yet to show any signs of addressing.

I believe it's the club who wants Howe out.

Most clued on supporters know that Howe is poor in a contest, but Dermie summed him up perfectly the other day when he said he won't mark in front, it always has to be from behind. And for me, that's the main reason he's so unreliable as a forward and always has these long quiet periods. Gunston is a great mark in front and in front of his eyes. Watts and Howe aren't.

Howe is a $350K player looking for $500K.

Bye.

Is it possible under afl rules to link Prestia with the Howe trade but for Prestia to see out his contract with GC next year? Not suggesting a straight swap. Draft picks would also be included.

Heard it said that Martin told the Tigers they shouldn't take him, enough said.

No, because you can't sign with another club whilst you're still under contract.

There is no doubt that Roos is pizzed off that Howe is demanding far more than what he is worth. Think he even leaked that to Slobbo a couple of weeks ago on AFL 360, He won't be held to ransom with a guy that finishes ninth in the Bluey.

Won't happen, because Howe isn't worth anything like 16.

To think we could have had pick 7 for Howe last year. We should have just said yes.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
