How the [censored] is Frost still 4-6 weeks away? I said this exact same thing two weeks ago! It's a toe for pete's sake!!!

He's no world beater but we're desperately lacking someone that can play on the enormous forwards (Tippett, Hale) and pinch hit in the ruck.

426 curse strikes again!

Yet consider the armchair critics joy were he to 'come back early' and miss more footy. 'Haven't a clue", "more mismanagement like Hogan 2013" etc etc.

Get him right, then play him.

Only if you are vying for finals, or for top 4 or 2, and have a full team around them, and depth, none of which applies to us, should this be considered.

See link below to the latest AFL club injury lists.

AFL injury update

We have 9 players who in my opinion would be in our best 18 on the injury list.

I have included Petracca as a best 18 - lets face it if fit he would be in!

Most clubs have 5 or 6 with some having only 2 or 3. A quick glance shows the struggling teams seem to have the most. The Swans look blessed. Freo ok. Even the Hawks can't squawk to much. Two number 2 draft picks out for the year for us! Weak, puny players are more prone to injury.

They're also on a ridiculous diet.

Are GCS doing the Paleo thing? If not, then what could explain the fact that they have by far and away the worst injury list of any team in the competition? What does a diet have to do with the injury list?

I am worried for Neville Jetta. Something must be seriously wrong to get a concussion and miss at least 4 weeks of footy. Clearly he is not passing whatever tests they are putting them through, which is a real concern when you are talking about a person's brain. You have to wonder what sort of damage and risk he is now exposed to for his long-term future. Horrible stuff.

I can't recall the last time we went through a season without being riddled by injuries.

Insert relevant line here relating to former legend of MFC >>>>> "N____ S_____ C______"

And in the past many blamed BB for the problem. Who do we blame now if anyone?

I had the same thoughts. I hope he is ok. he had only just started making a name for himself.

Nev will have to wear some sort of head protection or his confidence will be shot, the next time he gets a whack.

I'd say the 8 who have played this year are all best 22 and therefore huge losses for a side like us with no depth to speak of.

The other two I have faith will be best 22 in 2016, and I reckon if both were fit this year would be best 22 this year too. Might be a little/far too optimistic with Trengove but I see upside in him that makes us a better side.

I think they decided to take extra precautions with him and give him four weeks off when he could have feasibly returned after two.

I think.

I hope.

Either way, it's obviously not a good situation for him to be in.

larkin on the radio this morning says injuries are up this season across the board

blames speed of game and tackling ferocity as main reasons

says afl closely looking a slowing game down through rotations

says no good intell on whether this would increase injuries due to increased fatigue

I seem to recall someone (maybe TDI?) mentioning that the club were taking a precautionary approach as he has had a few concussions in the past. That was mentioned (in a training thread I think) about 3 weeks ago and at teh time it was mooted that he would possibly miss 5 weeks.

I can't think of anyone else so i guess it'll just have to be BB.... apologies BB

Great news re: Viney & Jetta

Good to have quality players back after an excellent win to strengthen the team, especially given the short break.

Dom Tyson is a possible return from injury but Sam Frost who was 4 - 6 weeks last week is still at 6 and so is Dean Kent. These are two blokes with a bit of badly needed pace who seem to be treading water as far as their return from injury goes.

I think we wont hear about the true nature of Frosts injury til the membership window closes. Bad news affects sales etc. But it seems a safe bet to say its def not a broken toe.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
