And that's something that's been long overdue at this club!

Yes, but shhhhhhhhh.............;) Edited by Nasher

I noticed in one news article Jones mentioning that he had been in touch with his mate Magner asking him not to injure him as he would like to play round 1.

Might be a two-way arrangement.......good chance Magner will be playing round 1 after the tribunal result.

So, to misquote someone (but not exactly sure who), the better we manage our players, the luckier we are.

Only up to a point.

Round one injury list

Jayden Hunt (back) – 4-6 weeks

Alex Neal-Bullen (knee) – 3 weeks

Jack Trengove (foot) – indefinite

Christian Petracca (knee) – season

Bit of a blow that Jayden Hunt who has missed a lot of the pre season will be out for the proverbial 4 to 6.

The incredible thing is that three of our injured four are kids with no senior experience meaning that Trenners is the only player with AFL experience on the injury list.

Of course, this does not include the mystery injury of the week, probably Dean Terlich who hasn't played during the pre season but has also not been included on the injury list despite obviously not being fit to play.

so I guess this means Howe, Kent and Vince are all definitely playing Saturday? If so, that's got to be the healthiest round 1 side I can remember, well done MFC, for once we won't be undermanned before the first bounce

True. I expect a few golden tickets to be dished out in the post-match analysis.

Misson came in at end of 2011 and said it would take 3 preseasons to get the team to AFL fitness. Hard to count 2011 as one of those, so fair to say he has delivered. The team ran both ways for 4 qtrs on Sat, without signs of fatigue. Can't remember the last time that happened.

Misson deserves a lot of credit. Hope Misson stays beyond Roos tenure.

let's not get carried away though, I want to see how many of our top line players play 20-22 games this year as that is a crucial statistic in terms of your ladder position

You have to have a heart for the strings to snap.

There was no resemblance of heart on Saturday.

Impressive, whatever way you look at it.

Pity that a) our two longer-term injuries are for the season and b) they're both mids.

It also means, that our team is virtually as good as it gets (Petracca, Hunt and Trengove to lesser extent, are unproven). Which says to me, we are still some good drafting/trading off from having a decent list.

A girl can dream...*sigh*

Good point, many people were talking up our depth during January/Feb but the reality is there isn't any. Not counting first year players learning their craft in the VFL we have possibly 2 players who didn't play against GWS who are up to AFL standard.

No that's it any of my business but I would love to know the breakdown of our cap. Hoping Jones and H are front loaded and Dawes retirement fund is nearing an end. Can see Freo getting Rance then targeting Hogan next year.

Hunt is training so hopefully he is able to play VFL in a week or so. And where is ANB? Is he ready to go all of a sudden?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
