Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Christian Petracca - Season Ending Knee Injury

Well said, OD. We all feel for the poor kid, as it must be a shattering experience. But as a club, we say that injuries happen, they are never good, but they are part of football. Didn't one of the filth's prize recruits do something similar last year? No one wants it to happen, but it does, unfortunately. So after a collective cry of "Oh #@$#!", we move on ....

And that prize recruit, Freeman, has been tearing up the track during this pre-season.

It's well summed up R&B, and puts things into perspective.

Yes, I find myself a bit callous about it; "he wouldn't have been much use this year so if it had to happen, better to do it now."

ACLs aren't the end of the world they used to be.

Tell Morabito, Menzel, Rodan, etc that...

We can only hope that it's a one-off, and it doesn't bother him for the remainder of his career.

can everyone telling people to 'calm down' just pi$$ off??? possibly our best recruit has done his ACL, one of the worst and hardest to recover from injuries you can do. We are allowed to be upset. if you are not upset, good on ya.

i could have taken a shoulder or an ankle but not a fricken ACL from our new dynamic midfielder forward. FFAAARRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKK!

cant we just have one high pick come in and be awesome? too much to ask?

For those of us feeling a little dis-spirited, can someone post some names of players who've had ACL injuries and come back as if nothing ever happened?

One that I think comes to mind is Tony Liberatore, but I'm sure there are others.

Yep, the last player I'd want to do an ACL. I don't know of a player ever coming back better after an ACL.

I agree with you, this news is tragic and there is no watering it down for me either.

Nick Malceski is one that comes to mind as well.

Spot on Saty,

He is a kid that was probably not going to contribute much this year.

Life goes on, the sun will come up tomorrow.

We have all had a lot of disappointment the last decade so nothing new to get a little bit here.

There are 39 others on the list plus rookies.

Just proves to me you should go very easy on young draftees.

Spoken well OD. I almost detect a note of optimism in there. Hard to be optimistic about this but I agree, we should not have been expecting too much from the kid this year.

Imagine how hungry he will be when he comes back!

Seriously doubt I will take your advice DD

At this point we have little idea if he will be a champ or a chump.

Lots of supposed Champs end up Chumps.

Lets just wait and see before we step in front of the nearest train.

You are right, there is no evidence that this potential number 1 draft pick can play football. ill calm down and give it a few years to see if this injury ruined his career

thanks for the advice

I am optimistic we will do better than last year Rev.

Him being out does not change my opinion on our results.

I was hoping for a few reasonable games from him.

It won't now happen but hopefully a rookie or two will step up given the chance.

Onward and upward.

Robbie gray suffered a high impact ACL, doing a lot of other damage.... All australian

Archie Thompson was back within 6 months and is still lightning and agile

In saying that, in 2013 there were 8 reoccurrence of acl's

Having done mine twice, I've played 48/48 since the second reco and that was at 28. So an 18yr old with bulk like petracca should have no issues recovering and going on to play at 100%

I assume from that, you expected him to be there from Round 1 and dominate?

He is one player from a squad of over 40, yes from what I have seen at training, he could have come in early and been a really good players for us

But we have had too much expectation placed on young shoulders previously

Hopefully with the really good medical and fitness regime we have in place he can make a full recovery

Scharenberg was the one who did the knee 'Wise' and that was following on foot problems but you're right with Freeman, he missed last year with hammy related problems and seems to be killing it at training this year.

Cheers rjay, I thought I might have got the injuries around the wrong way. Hammy related problems certainly isn't as bad as an ACL, but it does show that the young fellas have the capacity to come back strong. I'll be watching how Scharenberg fares this yeah with interest.

of course not. Im worried about his career. how many times do we see re-occurrances of ACLs? Anyway just wanted to be able to rant and have a sook without being told to calm down and look on the bright side

thats all

Christian's football career has been seriously thrown into doubt with one of the most serious injuries any mid could get.

I hope the club has the right people around him for what will be a long, frustrating year. I don't know how I would deal with this injury and what the prognosis is.

Whether he can come back in 2016 and have the confidence in his body needed of a mid, is yet to be seen.

Good luck young fella.

Footy is what footy is and each year each clubs get season ending injuries.

Our problem is that we don't have enough talent to have any injuries.

My only one disagreement with the " he wouldn't play much or contribute this year" is that having a year off means he will come back next year with no experience at any senior level be it the MFC seniors or Casey. He is basically one year behind.

But like you, I am going to worry about who we have on the field not who isn't.

We have done plenty of that the last decade nutbean me included.

And it did change one thing.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
