Have you tasted the coffee they make in moochy door.

Our boys will suffer big time.

not necessarily so. a large percentage of sausages these days are gluten free

Not meaning to hijack with gastronomic tidbits but gluten free snags are wheat free, rice flour is the common substitute.

All meat snags are unpalatable for the majority of folks for a few reasons.

Geez, found this a really impressive interview with Goody:

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2015-01-12/camp-update-day-1-goodwin

Certainly a little more insight than Roosy's usually guarded comments. Can definitely see why the Bombers players speak so highly of him. No-nonsense, straight talking, calm and collected.

Can't wait to see him soak up experience from Roos and McCartney.

That implies they're doing everything right, which is obviously impossible.

No, it implies they think they are doing things right and that they don't believe altitude training will give them the edge.

Spent a lot of my childhood at maroochydore

Good memories.

Bet it's changed a lot!

Can you extrapolate a surf report for the players? And a nightclub report.

Burgo's Diary from Day 1 of the Camp:

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-01-13/day-1-melbourne-heads-north-for-camp

I'm glad he has kept us up to date with such crucial football information such as:

Beats by Dre headphones are soon popping up on the heads of passengers everywhere, yet there is still a sprinkle of Bose among the passengers. Most of the ‘Dre Beats’ are on Demon heads.

But before we take off, Bernie Vince heads over and hands Roosy ‘a pineapple’.

Why? You may ask. Well, it appears a $50 note had fallen out of the coach’s pocket. Good Samaritan Vince came to the rescue of course. Roosy was genuinely thankful to Bern!

The vegetarian lasagna and chicken were a hit with many.

(ps, i am joking. I appreciate what Burgo does.)

I particularly like this bit:

Training has come a long way, even in the past year under Roosy’s watch. It’s certainly noticeable. And the size and change in body shape has been evident on many.

A great report from Matt. Liked the non-training info.

Have to admire Trengove's positive attitude and I love that the club has taken him to Maroochydore (he was left at home for the Darwin camp in 2012)

As an aside does anyone know of 'First XV111' supporters that Burgan talks about...not who they are personally...just where they fit into the membership/coterie/supporter setup.

Thank goodness for Burgo. By my reckoning if Saty set out for Maroochydore on his scooter from Gosch's Paddock immediately after training on Friday, he'd be at about Seymour by now. I'm not confident he'll make it in time to be of any value to those of us who enjoy his reports and interaction with the players and footy department staff.

I think that is just a situation where plural sounds better than the singular, Goodwin refers to one gameplan: “The majority of the time will be focused on our football game plan and really embedding that.”

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-01-13/schools-in-for-demons

In reality, you have one way that you play and a few changes at the edges for different situations, I would call them 'tactics' rather than Plan B but that is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

Roos came to the club and lamented that the players had a too many ideas on the way they play football - he had to assure them that the game plan was THE game plan and they wouldn't be practicing a number of different styles.

First post. Getting the impression of a well run professional club. An administration that supports the football department, no off-field issues or media stories, head coach clearly in charge who commands total respect and who delegates to his staff, strong focus on development, well organised training programs, players seeing improvement in fitness and skills. There seems to be better organisation and method. Also greatly improved list. It has been a long time coming. Yet to be seen that this translates into results but clear improvement seen. Encouraging signs.

Excellent first post Hemingway, welcome aboard. You are absolutely right. Touch wood, we will not be distracted by any side issues and the focus is 100% on improving the club's performance. A professional club must now produce some results.

Presumably there was no pasta in it - veg lasagnas are often layered with eggplant or zucchini rather than pasta.

Out of interest does Hawthorn, Sydney or Geelong do altitude training? I think Port did some this year/last year.

None of them do altitude training.

Port did heat training in Dubai, which is now said to be more beneficial than high altitude.

In the heat the blood becomes more viscous, and your heart has to work harder to pump it around your body.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
