Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

There is absolutely no way we would willingly trade Gawn out. No way.

Agreed that Gawn is not for trade after 7 years of development now showing such a good return. Howe is the obvious trade candidate if any. Last two years have shown MFC not willing to trade if the offer is not good enough.

Will be interesting to see who we do see as filling a gap in our current list but key position seems most likely. Slightly worried by memories of Molan!

Oops. Sorry - I thought you were being serious!

I was D16.. I'm not convinced for a minute, to this point anyway, about Gawns ability to go on to be a champion of the game.

time will tell.

If we end up calling him Hannabal, then I'll have been wrong. I just don't see his hunger.

Henderson is like Dawes - a serviceable big bloke who has talent and works hard.

Gawn is the sort of ruckman you can build a midfield around.

thats is exactly why we want him... to be the 2nd fiddle to Hogan, & to pinch in the ruck. exactly why...

& he's a good overhead mark, & will willingly split packs as well.. & he's more than competent down back.

this IS what we are missing, to ease pressure on Hogan, to allow him to play his best... Henderson is a very strong AFL player already, with his best just in front of him, so we don't have to wait for his development. he can perform for us from next year.

in the meantime we recruit a kid like Weideman, to keep the production-line rolling along.

to get the results the supporters crave right Now, we have to fix our biggest weaknesses first up... not wait 4 years for an 18 yr old to grow his body.

... yes we need to recruit a mid from the draft as well, & a Prestia...

But we need realistic players to trade, of value, to get the bits that will help us right from the top. and players that other teams require. Carlton haven't had any luck with rucks.

And Lachie Henderson won't be around, when the Blues next make Top 4... he'll have wasted his time at a club down on its knees whilst he was there. the blues are 4 years behind us.

they're gibbs & murphy's & judds are just flops nowadays. & others have they're noses out of joint.

.

Sorry dee-luded but I really can't agree with you here

imo Gawn has been one of the top rucks in the comp since he arrived on the scene a few weeks ago - There is nothing to suggest that he won't continue this form. He is so much better than Spencer/Jamar it is ridiculous

Trading him for Henderson would be a bad move

From the limited amount of vision I have seen, there are two guys who I am certain will have an immediate impact next year...Josh Schache and Rhys Matheison.

Bontempelli was expected to be taken with about pick 10 or so in his year but the bulldogs took a chance and grabbed him with pick 4...i liked what I saw of him back then and we should take Matheison with our pick number 4 this year.

thats Ok MC.

I hope i'm wrong Re Gawn; but Hogan needs assistance, & we need insurance if we lose a key forward.. Dawes isn't that insurance. nor is gawn.

We have others who can hold the ruck spot, but not the key forward role. Our list is full of 3rd tall forwards & defenders. we need 1st's & 2nds tall Keys.

IMO the draft order will finish-

1st-Brisbane

2nd-Carlton

3rd-Melbourne

Brisbane look set to take Schache (if they can't get Dixon via trade) and Carlton may yet take the best available mid, leaves us to snag Weitering then just need a CHF...

Maybe Howe for Tomlinson has a great tank and a decent mark.. not to mention with a healthy GWS list sits behind Cameron, Patton and now McCarthy which has forced him to play in the backline to get a run

BTW, Jake Lovett played for Dandy, picked up 13 touches and laid 5 tackles. Jake might have some work to do to make his case for a F/S selection.

Good thing is that Dandy look set to play finals so plenty of time yet.

he was going pretty well last year, so my guess is we've told him to lay low this year!

No way do Carlton pass on Weitering in that scenario imo.

You do know that's a myth..

From what I have been told I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't pick him up.. Has done nothing at TAC level.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
