Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Oleg Markov is worth a punt? Comes from talented stock and seems determined to be the best he can be.

Jason Costagna - speedy half back

Oleg Markov - x factor forward flank

Matt Hammellman - promising young tall

Will Fordham - 188cm running mid

Nic Newman - 187cm skillful half back from Frankston

They are some of the ones I like. In terms of adding immediate impact to the team I think Newman might be the best bet. If we are going for more development then maybe look towards a tall and then a mid like Fordham.

Wouldn't have a clue as to the respective merits of these players but from a list-needs perspective I think we could use a ruck-forward and another small back.

Any two of Panos, Eddy or Broughton- I'd certainly favour a couple more mature bodies to those of a couple more teens to provide an immediate impact, one of whom can replace Trengove on the senior list.

Unless we draft a recycled player, I think Harmes will be the replacement for JT.

Apart from Oscar everything has been midfield thus far. If we don't like speculative talls in the primary draft here is the place to have a go. Given our choices Casey will not have a shortage of midfielders so lets try for a big guy.

I'd like Harmes to be upgraded next year, however I think he missed a lot of football this year due to injury and I think this will delay his elevation to this time next year.

Brendan Abbott, Aiden Anderson, Peter Bampton, Hugh Beasley, Sam Bevan, Jason Castagna, Daniel Capiron, Aaron Christensen, Adam Cockie, Jack Cripps, Brett Eddy, Billy Evans, Will Fordham, Joshua Fox, Jack Geary, Josh Glenn,Taylor Grace, Liam Griffiths, Matthew Hammelman, Jared Hardisty, Michael Hartley, Caleb Hislop, Dylan Hodge, Jake Johansen, Tyler Keitel, Jordan Kelly, Ryan Lim, Oleg Markov, Jermaine Miller-Lewis, Keenan Ramsey, Tyler Roos, Adam Saad, Ahmed Saad, Haiden Schloithe, Matt Uebergang, Alex Urban, Erin Wasley-Black, Jesse Watchman, Francis Watson, Callum Wilkie, Tom Wilkinson.

Hadn't seen much of him before, but he looks like the tall rebounding half back that we could use.

Matthew Hammelmann - was already mentioned in a draft thread as being a player "of interest" to us.

http://youtu.be/Y_WQ5wWk5Is

Unfortunately, Brisbane have first rights to Hammelmann.

Still in with a chance: The 10 hopefuls still in the mix for the pre-season and rookie drafts

Matt Hammelmann (197cm, 88kg, forward): He can join the Brisbane Lions under the pre-selection rookie rule as a member of their academy. Other clubs might take a look if they don't, as Hammelmann has shown signs he can be used at either end of the ground with success. Mainly it's as a forward, though, where he presents on the lead and kicks well.

Yeo, can't believe he missed out. Michael Manteit from Sandy is another one. Would be happy if we grabbed either to develop as rebounding half backs.

Others I like are Sam Bennett and Jayden Short.

I would love it if we get Capiron.

Known him for a long time and he would be a great pickup.

Having taught him through my family and from teaching him there are not many better kids around.

He is also a great basketballer and all round sports person.

I believe he was also the skipper of the Vic Country team in the Under 18's National comp and was in the AIS.

He WILL be rookied and I hope he comes to us!

Redleg is simply saying that if we get another two kids on the RL that the LTI to Trengove will mean that Harmes is best placed to be the player elevated at the start of the season.

Harmes needs to show something before he is to be considered for proper elevation like Jetta.

I would get a Panos-type for this circumstance.

I think the depth of the senior list these days makes the Trengove rookie elevation a low priority.

It's not as if you're required to play senior footy because you've been elevated, whoever it is will start at the back of pecking order.

Probably more likely to do the opposite. Roos would probably like to let the kid make it on his own, having the old man around the club wouldn't be the best thing.

Jack Viney says hi !

2 - Matthew Hammelman - one of the best tall forwards

20 - Tyler Roos - after getting Billy Stretch and Oscar McD, I like the romance of continuing the 'family' affair of this draft.

IF he is the best available then yes

I'd like Harmes to be upgraded next year, however I think he missed a lot of football this year due to injury and I think this will delay his elevation to this time next year.

All very premature to say who should be upgraded and when. Heaven forbid, injuries and preseason form and development especially from the new pucks will determine who and when.

If you assume that Hogan is already a best 22 player, see Dawes and Pederson as stop-gap players and Fitzpatrick as pretty useless (as I do), then we have a grand total of ZERO key forwards developing on the list. The problem is that it's extremely rare to get a great high-quality key forward in the rookie draft.

Rucks is also a problem, Jamar is 30 years old and Gawn has injury issues. Max King total unknown. I think another ruckman on the list developing seems logical, especially considering how many successful AFL ruckman started on the rookie list.

Would certainly not be opposed to Tyler Roos. I want Roosy to stick around for many years in a development capacity, and Tyler sounds like he has potential too.

Question: We have so much developing talent. Perhaps too much in one sense.

Are we better to take two young kids as rookies or two mature players (like Panos) to help the young kids develop at Casey?

And this concept of taking Tyler "for old time sake" is amazing. We are a professional football club for heavens sake.

This kid has some talent and would fit in nicely up forward with Hogan.

With the added bonus of a name that will resonate the ground like the days of The Yze 'Ooooze'.

not bad, I liked the fact that even when possibly in range he looked for the pass over the top to an open man.. nice team play.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
