Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

All the best Dom.

Sucks as a fair bit was invested in him, would be intersting to know how much is spent per player per annum by a footy club. Feels like a wasted opportunity even though Hogan was part of the deal.

Well footy department spending is about 20 mil. 10 mil for the players. 10 mil for the coaches, fitness etc.

So if every player got equal treatment it would be 1/44th of 10mil = $227,223. For two years that means about 450k down the drain. Plus his wages of 60k plus some match payments which is probably close to 150k all up.

All the best Dom, but another heartless Demon gone. Bring on whoever we draft instead!

No use throwing good money after bad, his heart wasn't in it.

He has done us a favour, he could have milked us further for cash and wasted another year on our list.

He has timed it as well as he possibly could so as not to hurt the club. People need to get some perspective. Players don't exist only for our entertainment.

If that's all people care about then they have issues. I'd much rather a player walk out on a contract than keep a player too long on a contract.

Thankyou Dom for your efforts and being a Demon. Good luck in your future.

Best to know what you want, and what you dont.

cheers and farewell.

Good luck to him joining the Fregon people. Obviously some kind of tribe of ancient fridge mechanics.

If he's head and heart weren't in it he wasn't going to make it. If they were he had pace, endurance, a nice left foot kick and decent defensive attributes and I would've been happy to see another year of what he could do. A slow developer but a fair bit of upside I thought.

Agree he's done it at the right time of year and no hard feelings, but it's still a recruiting failure and the challenge is on for new development and welfare coach Shannon Byrnes to indentify challenges our young players may have before they pop up in the future.

its unusual not to feel a sense of dread when the news of a demon quitting is announced but don't see much downside to this

Especially when you hear Melbourne youngster DOM...** hold breath* BARRY.. then you give a sigh of relief.

Good luck to the young fella, hope he goes well. Once a demon always a demon in my eyes.

Opens up pick 40, maybe i'm too harsh, but if Evans was being considered for a payout and de-listed, this should in no way affect such an outcome. Sure we get pick 40, but prior to this practically everyone was saying that Evans would never make it and was worth de-listing.

It might be another 13 spots lower than 40, but i would still like to try our luck with pick 53 in the draft and de-list Evans, rather than keep him on the list (we know that his contribution doesn't amount to much).

Pleasantries and thanks aside, it does have to raise the question how we keep drafting players who don't have a true passion for the game and more importantly the club. Isn't this what the interviewing process is all about?! Why do we have development and welfare officials..

Knowing what we know, Melbourne needed one more position on it's major list and whether the club suggested this first or he did come forward we'll never know

They might be able to take that speculative kid at RD2. The club may want to have Evans instead of another kid to carry for a couple of years in hope.

It is not all I care about, I do hope the best for Dom and hope he is happy in whatever he does, you only get one life. In saying that it is a large waste of cash, time and effort, there is no hiding from that.

Can I ask (politely) how old you are because i am tipping 30 or over. Remember back to being just turned 18 and what your true passions were - my passions at that age changed as often as my underwear ( weekly). So many kids drafted at this age are immature with a capital IM

Again, harks back to RPFC's argument of raising the draft age.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
