Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Alternative strip for 2015?

I notice that a few of the AFL clubs have announced new alternative strips for the coming season.

Not sure if MFC will be coming out with a new strip this year although I seem to recall talk in the past that clubs had to commit to two years at least for their alternative guernseys.

I'm not a big fan of our current predominantly white strip which looks more like a Swans jumper. I also like a football jumper that looks like a football jumper and not these stupid numbers with cartoon caricatures and the like.

I know it's a subject that's attracted controversy in the past but are there any views on whether we should change and what sort of design would you like?

Nothing wrong with the current one. We won 3 of our 4 games in it this year.

I like that we have a clear 'non clash'.

I like that it's red and blue. And I don't think white is a colour as such, I'm happy that it's a neutral background.

Unless you get a kid to design it (worked for Port, didn't work for Adel) I presume it costs a fair bit for someone to design one and there's always a chance it could be worse (hello silver).

A reversal of our home strip or we go with the lighter blue we wore during the 70's and 80's with white shirts as our alternative strip

Not the dreaded wishy-washy Royal Blue of 1975--1986 under any circumstances . Edited by dee-eee

Spot on bb we never seem to be able to accept that small problem.

Have you seen the new Lions clash jumper in today's HUN?

Now that IMO is truly bad.

Bu the Hun thinks it is one of the best ever!?

You are never going to get universal acceptance (or near it) of an alternative strip. There are only bad ones. The one we have now is the least bad options that I have seen.

And I think we can get near universal agreement on one point - never the light blue from the late 70s/early 80s...

we never had a light blue one.

closer to royal blue which is in the mid blue spectrum

maybe you meant to say the lighter (than navy) blue

Any watered down blue looks terrible to me...

Yeah, I meant the royal blue.

That ain't our blue.

Okay. I've got big shoulders, so will drop my suggestion on the plate and await the inevitable howls of derision & scorn!!

I'll begin by pointing out that my preferred jumper will always be the traditional one. But, if we MUST wear an alternate strip, it is my humble opinion that we go with the current one, but with one major change. That is, replace the white with pale blue, something akin to the colour of the RAAF ensign. That way, we are still the "red & blue". Will still also have the dark blue bits, as currently. Just eliminates the white. Personally, I think it would look quite good.

Yep. I know. Go for it, guys...!

Already been done, dc.

And it isn't great. That blue is darker than the RAAF blue too...

We have been down this path before but when I sing for the 'red and the blue' - I am not singing for the RAAF blue or the burnt orange red we had a few years back.

We are the dark navy blue and blood red.

It just doesn't fit into the American civil war song we stole...

I have always been one for alternate strips just reversing the colours. So we would have red jumper with blue V, richmond yellow with black sash etc. Pretty simple, no use of white unless it's part of colour (i.e Carlton would have white with blue CFC), and there wouldnt be any clashes at all.

hmmm, if you meant #13 then that is more royal blue than pale blue and i don't think would pass afl muster for "lightness"

vagg was suggesting pale blue instead of white but leaving the existing dark blue bits

Correct, Daisycutter. I'm suggesting something closer to the shade of blue Carlton wore in their clash jumper a few years back. However, given the venom chucked at that jumper, I chose to be more diplomatic, and suggest it be akin to the blue on the RAAF flag...

I am certain we will have a new one for 2015.

I know this because Peter Jackson told me himself in late 2013.

He didn't like the current white MFC away strip, he thought it "looked weak". He would have had it changed for the 2014 season although they had missed the submission date which was in May that year (therefore May 2014 for the 2015 season).

I look forward to seeing the new away/ clash jumper.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
