Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Salem is bigger, I asked him whilst discussing the Champions League, said he is now on new diet, less soccer more footy!...put on a couple of kilos,, I noticed he looks more solid standing next to him

Newton was not at training (assume mixed up with one of the Casey guys), neither was Billy Stretch (he is back at school in SA)

Yeah the photo on the MFC twitter account shows his arms. Significantly bigger than what I recall from the start of this season.

A number of the boys look bigger, looks like most of them have been hitting the gym hard through the off season. Frost looks a beast

What name was Ed Morris.

Anyone who watch Casey know what he is like as a player?

Remember watching Morris in his draft year for Gippsland.

Hard worker, very good in close (clean hands), good footy smarts and can rack up the touches. At 178cm’s maybe a touch small for an inside mid. This, maybe combined with a need for more polish in his game, saw him miss out in the draft, but apparently Morris was amongst the best of the non-Demons for Casey last year. I think he has the ability to do well if rookie listed.

Hoping that Alex Carr was one of the other boys given a training run.

I heard a while ago that were going to be a logo change.

It may be that the emblem will stay, but just won't be used as often as it is tough to print on a lot of products.

Too bloody busy I am not surprised.

Casey Players and Their AFL Opportunity

From my limited knowledge of Casey:

Gent - Good solid VFL player, not sure if he's up to AFL grade

Morris - had a great first year at Casey, can find the footy, bit small though

Rutherford - no idea but he's a bit bigger than the other guys

Munro - 99% sure I thought this guy was Newton. Such a similar build - 182cm, solid but fit. Was just reading about him. Former hockey player who got a chance with Sandy Dragons then Zebras as an 19 year old and played really well in the VFL towards the end of 2013. Then had a solid but not spectacular year this year and sounds like if he isn't drafted he's off to Casey to hook up with Justin Plapp.

DISCOVERING THE ZEBRAS: JAMES MUNRO

Of the lot I'd be keen on Munro for a rookie spot. We need endurance freak types and he hasn't played much footy. He could have some scope. At worst we get another Nicholson!

The four players - from the Casey Scorpions site:-

Casey Players and Their AFL Opportunity

The Casey Scorpions Football Club are pleased to announce four players from our current VFL

list have been given the opportunity to train with the Melbourne Football Club in the lead up to the 2014 National Draft on the 27th of November.

New recruit James Munro, Vice-captain Mitch Gent, and young emerging players Edward Morris and Bryce Rutherford are entering the Melbourne Football Clubs full time pre-season program over the next three weeks. This opportunity will provide each player an insight to the lifestyle of an AFL athlete in addition to the hope of getting an opportunity at the next level.

Kent has already trimmed down his puppy fat and is looking seriously fit. Did no pre season last year and set to do his first full AFL one.

Viney like Kent is another who is looking ripped and more defined in the arms. Again set to do a full pre season and can't wait to see him grow next year.

Frost is just a bloody machine. Big unit.

Salem has put on some size aswell. Looking great! Very hairy kid lol

Fitzy.. shocking beard..

I thought Toump is starting to look more defined aswell in the arms. Seems to have put on a little bit of size in his arms aswell. Hopefully he attacks Pre season with full steam

I know for a fact JKH undertook a pretty physical intense training plan at boxing gym where my cousin goes to. They [censored] the absolute [censored] out of you and its already showing in him. He looks bigger and a lot fitter!

Dawsey look very very fit. another who hasn't done a full pre season for couple of years now. Needs an injury free run hopefully.

With Tappy gone Kent is probably our biggest weight/height ratio. I wouldn't say he's fully trimmed down looking at him live but he's progressively getting their and for November he's in good condition. Come March with no interruptions he'll be good.

All those AFL photo's are chosen to be impressive.

Salem is still very thin in the upper body. Photo's flatter him. He was working hard to finish the boxing and push ups. As soon as the footies came out he was a class above though.

As I said earlier Toumpas live is the most impressive in terms of more muscle than what you are used to seeing.

Frost is more lean and athletic in person than the photos. But broad. He and Tom McDonald are certainly much taller and longer than Dunn and much bulkier than Garland. I wonder if the twin towers will work.

Glad for JKH. He was amazing in last years preseason. Just showed everyone up with his enthusiasm for training. I hope he can keep it up now it's not new and now he'll be doing more of it. If today was anything to go by they will be literally and figuratively belted by the boxing trainer.

so bloody excited about Dean Kent

as someone said earlier he looks to have finally shed that puppy fat. And he already had blistering pace and great strength beforehand

Will be shocked if he doesn't explode in 2015

I think it's great to see Dawes being able to use a football in the preseason full-stop. Since his arrival at the club he's been restricted running laps at training over summer due to injuries. This will (fingers crossed) be his first preseason in a long time and I can't wait to see him running round next year fully fit rather than being forced to play catch-up.

Thanks for the training reports too everyone who's contributed... my excitement is BUILDING! (again)

Anyone else see Dawes 2 grab a simple mark on the news just then? Cringe worthy

Jeebus... just one day into the pre-season and the knives are out already. Got to love MFC "supporters" (and I use that term advisedly).

If Kent has just started on that mo for Movember he's a machine, especially for a fair haired fella.

Good to see them back into it.

Hopefully you put in a preseason of posting and contribute more heavily in the real season, KK!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
