Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I popped past for 5 mins on the way to work. It was interesting that all from the leadership group were on the track with the young guys. Brendan Macca being shown around by Mahoney. No Tappy training with the group. I spotted Satyr from afar, so hoping for his full report!

Just asking...might this be because it's now OFFICIAL training and those not on the list would need permission ?

Bernie Vince was seen trotting slowly around the track.

Apparently he didn't break into a full gallop.

Spent a little time there from 10am on the way to the shops.

There were a couple of groups at that stage, one of senior players kicking and marking and a large group of presumably the 1 - 4 year players doing boxing among other things. Among the senior group were N Jones, Dawes, Dunn, Garland, Bail, Cross, Tyson, Fitzpatrick.

Terlich did laps and Watts rocked up later on and also did mainly laps.

Among the large group were McDonald, Frost, King, Hogan, Hunt, Salem, JKH, Michie, Evans, Howe, Harmes, Kent, M Jones, Pederson, Toumpas and Viney.

I think I saw Gawn across the oval at one stage but no sign later on.

There were three players I didn't recognise though. I'm assuming one was Ben Newton but have no idea who the other two were. I'm pretty confident neither was Stretch but perhaps one was Tyler Roos?

Garland, Dunn, Fitzpatrick and Dawes spent some time doing 1 on 1 marking and later on did laps and timed runs at a good pace. The main group also spent some time doing drills like ground ball gets, marking while being hit by a pad and just mark then kick rotations.

Actually I saw Barry at one stage too, though I don't think he was out training most of the time.

Roos was there with Goodwin along with most of the other coaches.

The best thing was seeing Hogan getting amongst it!

Who's the one that Viney is boxing with? Didn't recognize him...

Was wondering that myself. Definitely a mystery player.

Btw am I the only one that thinks that Salem has put on some serious size? Looks to have a mature body already.

Got there at 10:15 so obviously had missed a bit.

Unsighted: Jamar, Spencer, Vince, Trengove, Lumumba, Garlett, Stretch, McKenzie, Riley, Grimes, Jetta.

* Big Maxy Gawn doing his customary exit back to the rooms but didn't appear to be a problem

* Dom Barry going off as well, did come back briefly later

* Terlich just kicking a tennis ball around

* Dawes, Garland, Dunn, Fitzy doing some kick to kick and a bit of one on one marking

* Watts doing light running

* Cross, Tyson, Jones, Bail doing some light clearance work, pretty much just roving a fake tap and hand balling off

The rest of the lads were doing boxing. Standard rep stuff but also with the boxing coach and Brad Miller walking passed and giving them taps in the guts as they are boxing, short jabs from the coach, whacks with a spare glove from Miller. Then in the last of the reps it was jabs straight in to your partners abs. The coach instructing them to hit harder and faster. Roos seemed to be enjoying it.

Pedersen (looking fit), Howe, Matt Jones mixed in with this group along with the young guys. Newton and Frost part of it. Evans in the group, looking fit but thin. 3 extras - think one was Ed Morris from Casey. Didn't look like Tyler Roos but might have been, not sure.

Frost has a reasonable kicking action and it comes out ok, bit mechanical but you expect that from an athletic type. And he certainly looks the build and an athlete. Newton isn't overly tall or built, but he looks solid. Fit as well. Was kicking a lot on his right which is nice to see from a lefty.

They did some light skills work before another rep of boxing. Then at 11 headed over to the tan. I went that way myself and it looked like they were going to do some running along the flat alexandra ave section not full laps.

Jones, Bail, Garland and Cross were doing some repeat runs along the oval. Garland clear of Crossy but all keeping a similar pace which was good. Garland seems fitter than last year.

Dawes, Watts, Dunny doing some as well. Dawes is certainly a different body to shape to the lump who played for Collingwood. Watts is thin. Anyone expecting him to magically bulk up after all these years, it's not going to happen. He'll have a body to suit the style of game he (hopefully) will play.

Hogan, Kent,,,, Hunt,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,King stayed to do some running on the oval as well. 1 minute running, 1 minute walking possibly. Fair to say young Kingy is a long way off. Each comma in that ordering represents about 3 metres.

Toumpas seems much heavier in the upper body. But not big bulky arms. It was noticeable last year that he came back looking very lean and put in some good efforts in the running. This year it might be that he's filled out a bit and so if he keeps improving his fitness he hopefully he plays with more power.

Pedersen looks fit. Harmes looks stronger and more mature in the body, but has a horrible surfer style haircut. Frost is a big athletic unit. Hogan looks good and it's great to have him out there.

Overall everyone looked fit really. We have a crazy number of coaches and support personnel. Roos in charge but not pushing anything too hard for the first day. Goodwin taking it all in. Involved with Benny Matthews for some of the midfielders stuff. They look pretty similar. He looks good in red! Brad Miller looking enthusiastic.

Toilet watch and Crowd watch can be filled out later. I'll await feedback to see if the demand is there.

Good afternoon, I was there for the whole session, Ruffles has covered the attendees, will be putting some photos on my Twitter account Demonpk, if anybody wants a look.

There were four ring ins, I asked Todd Viney "they are Casey guys that have a lot of upside, we want them to experience AFL training", you can read whatever you like into that.

A few observations, Frost is huge, Roh Bail told me he is also very strong, so has made a good impression already.

Dave Misson is very impressed with the standards.

The amount of ball work first up surprised me.

The absentees were Grimes, Jetta, Garlett, Lumumba, Vince, Jamar, McKenzie, Trengove, Riley, Spencer.

The session went for 2½ hours, including a Tan run for the 1 to 4 year players

Salem is bigger, I asked him whilst discussing the Champions League, said he is now on new diet, less soccer more footy! Put on a couple of kilos. I noticed he looks more solid standing next to him.

Newton was not at training (assume mixed up with one of the Casey guys), neither was Billy Stretch (he is back at school in SA).

Technical question: Is Billy Stretch allowed to train with the group before the National Draft?

I'm trying to remember what happened with Viney.

I'd say he might be if he wasn't at school but it would still require AFL approval. But if he's finishing school exams it will be a no and even after that given Roos' thoughts on draftees they'd probably be happy for him to chill out, go to schoolies and come in like every other kid after the draft.

I'm sure the club has a program laid out for him leading up to when he joins the club.

Did you get the names of the Casey guys?

No they zipped away before I could, I know one was the short guy with the mop of curly hair, his name escapes me, who showed something last year, I know it wasn't Panozza or Tim Smith if that's any help, and I don't think it was Best either

The photos are now up on Twitter, if anybody wants to pick them off and post here

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
