Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lamprill knocking over PJ is a big surprise to me, otherwise predictable.

Green v Farmer and Brown v Viney both tough to call.

No real surprise to me, Lamprill had a dip and made more of his limited talent than PJ.

Biggest surprise to me is Matthew Bate knocking off Warren Dean. The fact that Dean only played 30 odd games due to injury is a tragic, could have been a star.

Farmer and Viney for me - both by a nose.

I feel a bit guilty voting in these as for most of them, my youth and relatively late coming to footy means my memory only goes as far back as the mid 90s. I'm probably contributing to some injustice for some of those legends from the 80s and earlier.

Warren Dean was magnificent R22 1987. Robbie may not have played finals footy if not for his game that day.

Massive contribution to the MFC compared to Matthew Bate.

Lamprill didn't make much use of his 'talent' round 22 1996 when Dunstall kicked 10 and the Hawks beat us by a point.

Agree with you regarding Dean, another in a long list of Demons with careers cut short by injury.

Regarding the Farmer description, as far as I recollect Lyon still kicked the goal after the handpass in the goalsquare. Then he told Jeff off. Is my memory playing tricks on me?

It's a mystery...my own recollection was that the ump called it back to the Wiz because he'd blown time off.

One thing I do remember was the look on Big Balmies face in the coaches box. They zoomed right in and his (already large) noggin completely filled the Jumbotron...fricking enormous.

I saw that footage on Fox recently.

Your memory is not playing tricks, Lyon did kick the goal then I reckon he told Jeff to settle down rather than telling him off.

Farmer over Greeny was a tough call, but I reckon the Croswell v Johnson contest is the one to watch. Viney will romp home over Doggy.

If AJ doesn't wallop Crosswell I will be astounded.

Nah Farmer definitely got another kick cos the ump had called time off. Lyon told him to settle down after he found himself getting hit by the ball in his back unexpectedly!

Smithy just saw the footage against Adelaide and you are spot on but I don't think that was the one I was thinking of - I seem to recall him doing it another time where he got another kick.

But without footage to back me up I'll concede defeat!

Strange that Supermacado, Kumamoto Ken (who is usually on the mark) and yourself all have a similar opinion.

Maybe there was another occasion.

Perhaps others may share some light.

Not to try and influence my own competition, but I'll be sad if Crosswell loses because he was an epic comedy figure. I remember Johnson showing up and having a whinge when we delisted his average kid

AJ was a real crowd favourite, a brilliant footballer and dual Bluey winner whereas Crosswell who also possessed great ability was a 2 bob lair for mine.

This is getting harder. For mine none is tougher than Jakovich vs Matty Whelan. Both deserve better than a round 2 exit.

True, Stretch v Lovett, Healy v Wells and Farmer v Grinter are others.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
