I'm thinking Glenn Swann, Darryl Cutherbetson, David Cordner, George Lakes, Peter Yeo, Peter Weekes, John Gallus, Russell Reynolds, Vincent Cattogio, Russell Collcott, Phil Carmen, (pipping P. Keenan, Jacko, Alan Jakovich, Steven O'Dwyer and Brent Crosswell), and not to mention Ed Burston, the boom recruit of 1966. So much for this much-maligned era.

I think ed burston taught me science at peninsula grammar

You are correct.

Ed did indeed teach science at Peninsula - was always modest about his onfield achievements, including the time he snagged a lazy 5 (I think) as resting ruckman - (got on the fortunate end of one or two 'handballs over the top').

As for his off-field achievements, well, that is another story (or so I am told......)

Congratulations to Austin Wonaeamirri for winning the warm-up event with 22%. Tears before bedtime for Paul Bryce and Robert Pyman who were the only players who failed to register a vote.

The first round proper will kick-off here at 7am Wednesday and run until 7pm Thursday night. Good luck getting your favourites up.

Bit harsh all. always liked Aussie. Another sad loss to the Dees!

Not as clear cut as I originally thought, enjoyable nevertheless.

Apparently voting has been slow, c'mon you guys get with the program and have a bit of fun :)

I am going to unpin the thread because people have a tendency sometimes not to look at the top of the page.

If it floats down too far then somebody should bump it and in any event, I'm sure we'll be updated from time to time by Adam.

Has been quite brisk (better than our usual comps anyway), up to 164 for the first matchups with 23 hours to go before the first winners are revealed. A few potential spankings here, plenty of hot contests in coming days.

Done.

Love the bio's - especially the Kelly O'Donnell disciplinary memo for fidgeting on Anzac Day. Classic

Note the way this memo lays the groundwork for MFC Facebook page users 30 years later by butchering his name twice.

Not sure whether Kerry and "Larry" (presumably Les) Bamblett moving in together is being spoken of as a good thing or a bad thing.

My favourite bio by far was the description of Matthew Warnock and his power point.

But I really think Ferguson is looking the goods...

You are a freak Supermercado man. How the hell did you get hold of a 31 year old MFC memo? Amazing

I'm glad you brought this up. I didn't 'move a little bit', I was holding up a couple of fingers to remind Brian Peake how many votes I got against him last time we played. How many did you poll Seddon? That's what I thought.

Round one of the voting doesn't look pretty for Ray.

Someone was always going to be on a hiding to nothing and it turned out to be Biffo #19.

No repechage either . :)

Sadly I've only got a handful of these from around 1982 (I wish there was a 30 year rule where documents were made public a'la the government), but here's another one of my favourites - the great Kentucky Fried Chicken swindle of 1982.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
