This thread reminds me of the romanticism of that first pash at 14

Great while it lasted but all over too soon.

As much as I would like to see this play out to a universally great finish for the MFC and JT

I'm calling it !!

Finished, Unfortunately!

Grow a beard and use a French accent when you go out.

Yep, Energy Watch was a disaster, and one Schwab should be held accountable for. Still not seeing the link to Trengove's foot.

I think WYL's onto something. Could it be that CS was developing an electric moon boot powered by companies nominated by Energy Watch for use by JT while playing through the pain of multiple leg fractures under his hypnotic spell?

What I'm struggling to understand is the football departments stance that they would support him BEYOND 2015!

Think about it he wouldn't have played potentially for nearly 2 full seasons and the fact that we would even consider him beyond 2015 is staggering.

We are not and should not be throwing away good money on the possibility and a big possibility that he will not come up.

To look at extending his contract beyond 2015 is tantamount to very risky list management.

Remember, we were quite happy to let him go to Richmond not two weeks ago.

Very very risky!

it's called loyalty

By whom to whom?

We have been very loyal to JT since 2011 for not many good games.

I actually think the MFC have shown a lot of loyalty to JT.

The end might be very close.

I'll be back says Jack

""LUCKLESS Melbourne midfielder Jack Trengove has full confidence he can return from his latest bout of foot surgery, but he concedes he is unlikely to play in 2015.""

Might be just reading tea leaves that arent there  but it sounds like the sort of thing thats said before they put you out to pasture for a year ( i.e rookie list )

or may be nothing

IMHO bb I dont thinbk anyone knows at this point.

Everyone is putting a positive spin on the out come.

However my gut tells me we may never see JT in the MFC jumper again.

If the problem had not shown up in tests by Richmond would he still be a dee?

You know I share this view Old..as we have before :rolleyes:

Should he never take the field again I dont hink it will be because he has ideas elsewhere or otherwise but simply because his foot fails him.

I'd love to see season 2 version Trengove out there and Im sure he does too, but , like yourself I harbour misgivings about that foot. it not only has to come good it has to endure AFL footy...week in week out. I wonder at what point you have to think...is it worth it...??

I'm a little disappointed to hear Jack mention football as a business and that he's "at Melbourne now".

Nothing against the poor fella, but he has been incredibly loyal ($cully fiasco) and a true demon. It's a shame the club threw him to the Tigers only to get rejected.

I will state this now, if I ever hear him opting for a trade I will not argue or be angry against it, no matter how good or bad he becomes.

He seems like a ripping bloke and I hope he gets better and sees a good career out at the Dees.

Sounds to me he is expecting to be out for the season.

How that equates to putting him on the rookie list has me shagged.

I would bet my left one on Jack remaining a primary-listed player if I didn't value it so much.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
