Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Nathan Jones Contract

I can see where you're coming from WYL, but I think giving Jones a 5 year deal is fine, given his special place at the club. This bloke has been the heart and soul every week for at least the last three gloomy years. I think if we negotiate a five year deal, we can negotiate a smaller yearly wage or front load it to the equivalent. I'd be happy with a five year deal at $600k pa. If it's front loaded, we could go hard after FAs in the next two to three years.

However, the caveat for me is that if he is asking for 5 years at say $1mill, that's overs for me. We want to remunerate Jones for all his hard work over the last few years and set him up for the future, but we also have to be mindful that we're acting in the best interests of the club as a whole. No one player is bigger than the Melbourne Football Club.

It's not the money i am thinking about. It's a 5 year contract. I don't like them for anyone.

The game is to brutal, particularly for an inside mid. Jonesy will always be an opposition target.

This year he got belted at least twice in the opening minutes and had NO influence for the rest of the game (tweeting birds circled his head for the rest of the match)

I would prefer a 3 year deal with major incentives.

And i know i am in the minority & i love Jonesy.

Buti also trust PJ & Roosy as to the long term picture.

5 year deals are dangerous unless you are an AFL built franchaise with a bottomless pit of finance

Jones is a pretty durable player though. I admit that can change rapidly, but I guess we'll agree to disagree, mate.

Jones is a "heart and soul" player who means something to the club in ways beyond his footy ability. He is the one bloke who we long suffering supporters can to look to with pride every week, to fly the flag and give us something to cheer about. In that sense he is akin to the great Robbie - he is a shining beacon in an otherwise miserable team. Hopefully players like Viney and Hogan and, who knows, a new draft pick can grow into this type of role?

At the moment ,however, Jones is it and, should we lose him, Melbourne would be well and truly on that highway made famous by AC DC.

New Maccas in the 'Rat hey THT? Don't they have 4 already (to share amongst a population of 80K)?

This new one will be the fourth Macca's in Ballarat. It's to service the new suburb they are developing in western Ballarat. If you are inferring Ballarat has a high proportion of McDonalds's you are probably right but it's probably no different than anywhere else.

Classy place :)

Hey WYL. Before you go slagging off where I live mate, have a bit of respect. We don't all live in Elwood you silver spoon fed [censored]. Not all Demon supporters live bayside and go to the snow each year. Ballarat isn't Toorak and I'm not from here but it's my home now.

No place needs 4 Maccas mate.

It's not food.

I reckon a 5 year deal at $800k is fair with the added incentive that he could decide when to retire, e.g. As a club legend reserve the right to play on as long as he feels able to contribute. If he believes in the clubs direction and his ability to contribute it would be hard for him to knock back being a 1 club 300 gane legend.

they dont have 4, they have moved on their 5th store

I'm done with you clowns. I thought Demonland was a place where all Demon supporters could talk about topics related to the Dees. Not bag fellow members based on their postcode. Dead set. Half the responses on this are site people getting stuck into each other. I have better things to do with my time. Time to sign out for good.

Hey ... careful there. Elwood isn't Toorak either and the only view of water that I have from my digs is a putrid canal and I've never seen snow so don't go calling us Elwoodites toffs either.

Thank you.

Equally as vague and esoteric Clit - add some meat to the sauce or get back on the pizz.

I have never met this person before today. And knowing who it is can say no more.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
