Spoken by Demonlands very own clairvoyant, list management guru.

never wanted a 5 year deal....Too long for a grunt midfielder when he already had a year to go...

So he's done after this then?

Good to know.

Extremely well deserved in terms of length, it's a show of faith to us as much of a show of faith from us to him that his body will be durable enough to make it worth it. He should chat to Cross about that!

But well done Jones, you're a dying breed and you deserve to see and lead success with the Red and Blue.

It's apparently just a business now. Loyalty means nothing anymore.

At least, that's what I hear from some here.

A simple "I was wrong" will make amends

Oh yea of little faith

He's going to the highest bidder. Possibly GWS. Or North Melbourne.

Simple - there's a lot of cliched carp stated on these threads.

Jones will remain a Demon. For life.

Why? Because he wants to. And the club wants him to.

He's loyal and committed to the club and he knows that, as a leader, he can influence the club's transformation and its future success.

And he wants to be a part of that.

There's more to footy for some players than simply the $$$. Some of you seem not to get that.

I say as your name sake said...

Go [censored] yourself san Diego

He signed

And san Diego has something to do with a whales [censored]

According to ron but that could only be Christmas drinks

I think we absolutely want this bloke at the club for 5 years and beyond.

His playing ability may start to diminish but he will only grow in leadership and knowledge.

Absolutely must be a one club player, not just for what he brings as a footballer but for the less tangibles. Jones helps give MFC an identity, credibility and some self respect.

If you think Jones couldn't get 6 years plus in the marketplace you are dreaming.

I am sure he could.....He could also have smashed collarbones and dislocated shoulders by the 3rd year considering the smashings his body recieves

The club is being smart as it should...For too long Hollywood Boulevard ruled

Those days are gone

I heard it yesterday, but my brain takes 24 hours to process and respond.

I will respond to this coherently tomorrow.

He's as good as gone.

Signing the 4 year contract was just a smokescreen.

I don't know how he can look himself in the mirror.

I hear he is already training on the beaches outside Geelong.

Premiership player is only overrated when discussing Nick Maxwell or Nathan Ablett.

Nick Maxwell is to be admired not naturally gifted but a true leader and got the absolute best and more out of himself

and if you think those are the only two you are sadly mistaken

David Hynes,Steve Armstrong, Chad Rintoul, Rohan Jones, Ryan Turnbull & Ash Hanson all were surrounded by quality players at the right time in Meth Coast Premiership Sides

Stuart Anderson won a flag at North and I saw him when he came to Freo really lucky in 1996 as was Capuano in 1999 along with Cam Mooney who somewhat redeemed himself at the Cats

The Crows won flags with sides having Shane Ellen and Chad Rintoul

Gary Moorcroft was part of the all conquering Bombers 2000 side

Richard Hadley played less than 10 AFL games when he won a flag with the Lions

I could go back further but I think I have made my point

Wasn't that Armstrong's only game for the year?

No not quite he played a few cameo roles through the year but came in again late in the season and played well enough to cement his spot for the finals. They didn't flirt with their form and at that time being minus Sampi & Matera from 05 they were not strong with guys able to play as a small forward outside of the resting Cousins/Kerr. Right place right time for Army, really good footy story because he is a hell of a nice guy

The last thing Sydney need is MFC pushing up the price of Zak Jones.

I think the salary cap issues will come home to roost at the Swans.

Hopefully we can land Zak aswell, have a couple sets of brothers playing at the club.

And a few sets of father/sons... A real family club.

I watch a bit of the footy, not a lot, that is not MFC given spousal latitude but, perhaps not viewing the relevant games, did not notice Zak at all.

This is most probably a beat up by the bored off season idiots at the Hun.

Given the talent we have recruited over the last 2 years in the midfield is this anything beyond a romantic fantasy?

Happy to be proven wrong.

He didnt play a lot of games, but when he got a chance, Zak Jones was impressive and exceeded expectations.

He looks like he'll be quite a good player like his brother, although he'll be fighting for spots with many other very highly rated kids at the swans.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
