Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL National Draft 2014 Picks 2 & 3

I fully expect that if St. Kilda take Petracca then we should take Brayshaw and Mc Cartin.

If we don't take Mc Cartin with pick 3 I'm calling it.....

It will be the biggest blunder in our recruiting history Bar none!

Since we delisted "Juice" Newton you mean?

Interesting to read in The Age that Lewis Taylor was a late call up to attend last year's draft, as he was installed as our 2nd backup if Salem was gone at pick 9 (...since the AFL wants to know teams' likely selections, so they can make sure they get a photo of the top 10 in attendance).

Saw that too. I wonder if we had any buyers remorse when Taylor slipped all the way past pick 23?

Taylor has plateaued and Salem will be a gun. Taking Salem not Taylor will be prove to be the correct decision.

The remorse would be for trading for Vince with a pick that would have got Taylor.

And I understand the desire to try and get a rise out PF, but spare the rest of us - there is a reason I, and so many others, have him on ignore.

You have now got yourself out on quite a limb binman

Actually he hasn't

One can't really be wrong on a positive so therefore there are no consequences to binman being wrong. binman wants what is best for our club so there's not much likelihood of anyone rubbing his nose in it if he's wrong.

The opposite is often true - being wrong on a negative has it's consequences ... if Toumpas turns out to be a very good player his knockers will almost certainly cop a good deal of grief.

Reminds me of the Nathan Jones knockers here (after his 3rd season)

What has happened to people's patience? Generally, any given player doesn't really hit his straps until he's been in the system for 3-5 years (aged 21-23) so therefore, any draftee needs to be given time to establish himself.

Some often don't last that long but that decision to curtail a players career is made by the match committee with the large majority of the supporters left scratching their heads ... Lucas Cook is a good example of that ... not many here were wanting to de-list him after 2 years. Those here who were wanting to cut him were part of a small minority.

No remorse there. I like Bernie.

But i will spare the rest of y'all and make no further proclamations that any player we draft will be better (or worse) than an alternative selection. I do like Lever though.....

In simple terms my wants for picks 2 and 3 are that we just get footy players.. Kids who have shown a penchant to actually play and take on the game. I'm so sick to death and over this 'elite' shlt I cant tell you.

Elite reminds me of the idea of that 'extraodinary girl" that we all imagined we wanted/needed only to discover it was an illusion and just a high maintenance headache. Why does that sound familar !!

No idea, but it sounds like an interesting story ....

That is interesting. It basically means the Tyson trade was Josh Kelly and Lewis Taylor for Dom Tyson and Christian Salem.

FWIW I think it will turn out about even, and Tyson has delivered more immediate results as we've already seen.

It puts a lot of those silly journos to shame though that praise Roos for turning pick 2 into Tyson and Salem.

Can you change your avatar to Petracca please? I'm set on Brayshaw/McCartin and need to make sure you jinx it into fruition. Thanks.

If you've got him on ignore don't worry about it, you won't see his reply.

And spare us your continuing advice on what we should do and what we shouldn't. It's tiresome and unnecessarily personal.

Speaking of tiresome - hello Bob.

How is that personal (when others reply to those you ignore, you can see their replies)? Do you not think it healthier for binman to ignore him than to troll him? Think about it...

And how many advices have I given recently?

Would you like to show them to the rest of the class or would you like to follow me around and jump on everything; you think I post, don't post, you misread, others paraphrase that you misread, remember wrong, etc

Is it the 'vibe' of my posting that offends your sensibilities?

Are yousuggesting clubs tell their picks to the AFL beforehand so that can get ready for a photo op?

Can't imagine that ever happening. Place leaks like a sieve.

Thanks for your prompt response, I've come to rely on it.

I'm not following you around, you're unavoidable. You've had 16,000 posts since 2007 and I've had 3000 since 2004.

I had you on ignore for a while but I found the forum didn't make sense because half of the content was missing and it was difficult to follow the discussion so now I don't have you on ignore and I find the discussion more difficult to follow.

But I continue to come here because there are some really excellent posters like Chaser, rj, hh, the "goods" 'oil and 'vibes, Qwerty30, Pennant, Nasher, DA and others. Excellent discussion with these blokes with no big dick waving.

Anyway thanks again on your prompt reply and have a nice day. :)

When we took Watts our selection was leaked to the press (by us) prior to the draft. Schwabby wanted the publicity. The AFL didn't take kindly to it as they instruct clubs not to say who they are going to take as it removes a lot of the suspense from draft night.

If the instruction wasn't there then there would be little or no reason why the Saints wouldn't say who they are going to take.

Well that is deflating, I didn't make your list.

what are the chances ???

2vxg7rr.jpg

i always thought the chances were good, and never bought this 'Petracca is definite number 1 pick' business

I think the temptation will be great for the Saints to take McCartin so he can learn off Riewoldt before he retires

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
